Køge North Railway Station
Køge North station () is an Intercity, regional and S-train railway station that is located in the northern part of the city of Køge, Denmark. It opened on 1 June 2019 and is located about 35 km southwest of Copenhagen. The station and the Copenhagen–Ringsted Line constitute part of the Fehmarn Belt connection to Germany, and also the main line to western Denmark. It will allow passengers to change trains between high-speed rail services and S-trains, as well as regional services. Crown Prince Frederik inaugurated the station on 31 May 2019. The six platforms are built on each side of an eight-lane motorway (two S-train platforms to the east; the main line platforms to the west) and are connected by a 225-metre pedestrian bridge. S-train (Copenhagen)
The Copenhagen S-train (), the S-train of Copenhagen, Denmark, is a key part of public transport in the city. It is a hybrid urban-suburban rail serving most of the Copenhagen urban area, and is analogous to the S-Bahn systems of Berlin, Vienna and Hamburg. The trains connect the Copenhagen inner city with Hillerød, Klampenborg, Frederikssund, Farum, Høje-Taastrup and Køge. There are of double track with 87 S-train stations, of which eight are in neighbouring towns outside greater Copenhagen. The S-train is run by DSB S-tog A/S while Banedanmark owns the tracks and signals. In the railway system of Great Britain, a train operating company (TOC) is a railway undertaking operating passenger trains under the collective National Rail brand. TOCs have existed since the privatisation of the network under the Railways Act 1993. There are two types of TOC: most hold franchises let by the Department for Transport (DfT) through a tendering system, to operate services on certain routes for a specified duration, while a small number of open-access operators hold licences to provide supplementary services on chosen routes. High-speed Rail In Denmark
The first high-speed railway in Denmark was the Copenhagen–Ringsted Line, completed in late 2018 and opened in 2019. Further high-speed lines are currently under planning. Since HSR in Denmark reaches no more than 200 km/h, it can also be described as higher-speed rail.
