Kyrie In D Minor, K. 341
The Kyrie in D minor, K. 341/368a, is a sacred composition from 1780/1781 or 1791 for choir and large classical orchestra by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It is a setting of the Kyrie, the first section of the Mass, using an orchestra of two flutes, two oboes, two clarinets in A, two bassoons, two trumpets in D, four horns (two in F and two in D), two timpani in D and A, organ, and strings, as well as the chorus. It lasts approximately seven minutes in performance. History The autograph was discovered and published after Mozart's death, but was subsequently lost, and only copies and the first edition remain. Otto Jahn dated the work to between November 1780 and March 1781, during Mozart's stay in Munich for a performance of his opera ''Idomeneo'', since it was assumed that Mozart was mostly uninterested in church music during his Vienna years (producing only the unfinished C minor mass as a result of a vow, the unfinished Requiem for a commission, and the very short ''Ave verum co ... ''Ave verum corpus'' ("Hail, True Body"), Köchel catalogue, K. 618, is a motet in D major composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1791. It is a setting of the Latin hymn Ave verum corpus, of the same name. Mozart wrote it for Anton Stoll, a friend who was the church musician of St. Stephan, Baden, St. Stephan in Baden bei Wien. The motet was composed for the feast of Corpus Christi (feast), Corpus Christi; the Autograph (manuscript), autograph is dated 17 June 1791. It is scored for SATB choir, string instruments and organ (music), organ. History Mozart composed the motet in 1791 in the middle of writing his opera ''Die Zauberflöte''. Requiem (Mozart)
The Requiem in D minor, K. 626, is a Requiem Mass by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756–1791). Mozart composed part of the Requiem in Vienna in late 1791, but it was unfinished at his death on 5 December the same year. A completed version was delivered to Count Franz von Walsegg, who had commissioned the piece for a requiem service on 14 February 1792 to commemorate the first anniversary of the death of his wife Anna at the age of 20 on 14 February 1791. The autograph manuscript shows the finished and orchestrated movement of Introit in Mozart's hand, and detailed drafts of the Kyrie and the sequence, the latter including the Dies irae, the first eight bars of the Lacrimosa, and the Offertory. First Joseph Eybler and then Franz Xaver Süssmayr then filled in the rest, composed additional movements, and made a clean copy of the completed parts of the score for delivery to Walsegg, imitating Mozart's musical handwriting but clumsily dating it "1792." (Italian for ''Idomeneus, King of Crete, or, Ilia and Idamante''; usually referred to simply as ''Idomeneo'', Köchel catalogue, K. 366) is an Italian-language opera seria by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The libretto was adapted by Giambattista Varesco from a French text by Antoine Danchet, based on a 1705 play by Prosper Jolyot de Crébillon , Crébillion père, which had been set to music by André Campra as ''Idoménée'' in 1712. Mozart and Varesco were commissioned in 1780 by Charles Theodore, Elector of Bavaria, Karl Theodor, Elector of Bavaria for a court carnival.
