Kopčany
Kopčany ( or ; ) is a municipality and village in the Trnava Region of Slovakia. It lies near the border with the Czech Republic. History The oldest historical records to mention Kopčany date from 1392. However, the village is much older. In the 9th century, Kopčany was part of the agglomeration of Mikulčice, an important centre and possibly the capital of Great Moravia. Kopčany is also the site of one of the oldest standing buildings for which a Great Moravian origin is postulated, the Church of St. Margaret of Antioch. Geography The municipality has an altitude of and an area of . It is part of the Skalica District in the Trnava Region. Demographics Kopčany has a population of about 2,584 people. Great Moravia
Great Moravia (; , ''Meghálī Moravía''; ; ; , ), or simply Moravia, was the first major state that was predominantly West Slavic to emerge in the area of Central Europe, possibly including territories which are today part of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, Germany, Poland, Romania, Croatia, Serbia, Ukraine and Slovenia. The formations preceding it in these territories were Samo's tribal union (631–658) and the Pannonian Avar state (567 – after 822). Its core territory is the region now called Moravia in the eastern part of the Czech Republic alongside the Morava River, which gave its name to the kingdom. Trnava Region
The Trnava Region (, ; ; ) is one of the eight Slovak administrative regions. It was established in 1996, before which date, most of its districts were parts of Bratislava Region which was established on the founding of Czechoslovakia in 1923. It consists of 251 municipalities, from which 16 have a town status. It is the second most densely populated region in Slovakia. Izidor Kovárik
Izidor Kovárik (29 March 1917 – 11 July 1944) was a fighter pilot in the Czechoslovak Air Force (1938–1939) and Slovak Air Force (1939–1944) who became a flying ace on the Eastern Front in the Second World War. He became Slovakia's second-highest scoring fighter ace, shooting down 28 Soviet aircraft and probably one more. He was killed in an aircraft accident in 1944. Early life Kovárik was born in 1917 in Kopčany, a village in what was then the Lands of the Crown of Saint Stephen, near the border with Moravia. Kovárik joined the Czechoslovak Air Force in April 1938, and was posted to flying school at Spišská Nová Ves in eastern Slovakia. Skalica District (''okres Skalica'') is a district in the Trnava Region of western Slovakia. It lies in the northern part of Záhorská nížina, a lowland between Bratislava and Czech Republic. The district was established in 1923 and its current borders have existed from 1996. Its largest town is its seat Skalica. The main branch of the district's economy is industry. Dagmara Bollová, also known as ''Dagmar Bollová'' (born 16 September 1942 in Kopčany) is a former Slovak politician, who served as an MP of the National Council between 2002 and 2006. Slovak Car Registration Plates
Vehicles registered in Slovakia were generally assigned to one of the districts (''okres'') and from 1997 until 2022, the license plate coding () generally consisted of seven characters and takes the form XX-NNNLL, where XX was a two letter code corresponding to the district, NNN was a three digit number and LL were two additional letters (assigned alphabetically). Mikulčice () is a municipality and village in Hodonín District in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 2,000 inhabitants.
