King Of The Ring Tournament
The King of the Ring tournament is a men's professional wrestling single-elimination tournament held periodically by WWE, a Connecticut-based professional wrestling promotion. Established in 1985, the winner of the inaugural tournament was Don Muraco. Originally, the prize for winning the tournament was simply being crowned the "King of the Ring", but in 2002 and since 2024, the winner also receives a world championship match at SummerSlam. Some wrestlers have incorporated the "King of the Ring" title into their character, such as adorning king's attire and acting and speaking with a regal attitude. The tournament is also notable for beginning "Stone Cold" Steve Austin's rise to stardom after he won the 1996 tournament. The most recent 2024 tournament was won by Gunther. Judgment Day (2006)
The 2006 Judgment Day was the eighth Judgment Day professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). It was held exclusively for wrestlers from the promotion's SmackDown! brand division. The event took place on May 21, 2006, at the US Airways Center in Phoenix, Arizona. It was the final Judgment Day to be brand-exclusive as following WrestleMania 23 the following year, brand-exclusive PPVs were discontinued. The Iron Sheik
Hossein Khosrow Ali Vaziri (; March 15, 1942 – June 7, 2023), better known by his ring name the Iron Sheik, was an Iranian-American professional wrestler, amateur wrestler, and actor. To date he is the only Iranian-born champion in WWE history, having won the WWF World Heavyweight Championship in 1983. Vaziri's career peaked during the 1980s WWF wrestling boom, and his rivalry with Hulk Hogan turned Hogan into one of the greatest television heroes of the decade. He later formed a tag team with Nikolai Volkoff, which won the WWF Tag Team Championship at the inaugural WrestleMania event. In 2005, he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Foxborough is a town in Norfolk County, Massachusetts, United States. Located in the Greater Boston metropolitan area, it is about southwest of Boston. The population was 18,618 at the 2020 census. The 1985 King of the Ring was the inaugural King of the Ring professional wrestling tournament produced by the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE). The tournament was held on July 8, 1985, at the Sullivan Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, as a special non-televised house show. Don Muraco won the inaugural 1985 tournament. In addition to the tournament, there was only one other match during the night. In this match Hulk Hogan pinned Nikolai Volkoff in order to retain the WWF World Heavyweight Championship. WWE Brand Extension
The brand extension, also referred to as the brand split, is the separation of the American professional wrestling promotion WWE's roster of wrestlers (and, at various times, creative staff) into distinct divisions, or "brands". The promotion's wrestlers are assigned to a brand via the annual WWE Draft and exclusively perform on that brand's weekly television show, with some exceptions. The 2025 Night of Champions, also promoted as Night of Champions: Riyadh, is an upcoming professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) and livestreaming event produced by the American company WWE. It will be the 11th Night of Champions and will take place on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and will feature wrestlers from the Raw and SmackDown brand divisions. The event will host the finals of both the 24th King of the Ring and third Queen of the Ring tournaments, with the last tournaments for each held in 2024.
