King's School, Peterborough
Founded by King Henry VIII in 1541, The King's (The Cathedral) School is a state-funded Church of England Cathedral Chorister School located in Peterborough, England. It is the Chorister School for Peterborough Cathedral. Former pupils are known as Old Petriburgians. Although for centuries a boys-only grammar school, "Kings" is now mixed and has a junior department in Madeley House. Madeley House was previously the home for boarders, and many cathedral choristers were boarders there; but now the school has day pupils only. As part of the wider chapter of Peterborough Cathedral, the headteacher retains his own stall in the quire today. The Minster School, Southwell
The Minster School is a Church of England secondary school with sixth form in Southwell, Nottinghamshire, England, for children aged 7 to 18. There are just under 1700 students on roll. Text was copied from this source, which is available under a Open Government Licence v3.0 © Crown copyright. It has a selective junior section (7 years- 11 years) for boy and girl choristers from Southwell Minster and other pupils chosen for their musical ability. Beacon Schools Programme
Beacon Status was a progressive educational initiative that the United Kingdom implemented based on the idea that organizational learning could be advanced through a competitive process of identifying successful organizations and recruiting them to disseminate their good practices. The beacon status initiative was launched by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) in partnership with the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) in 1998 and ran through to August 2005 for primary and secondary schools in England and Wales. Beacon Status was for providers funded by the Learning and Skills Council, which are mainly Further Education colleges. Charles Richard Ball
Revd. Charles Richard Ball (11 March 1833 – 1918) was the leading trustee and reputed Lord of Madeley Manor. In Peterborough, he was the Vicar of St Paul's Church and the Honorary Canon of Peterborough Cathedral. Early life Ball, born 11 March 1833 in Clifton, Bristol, was the son of Joseph and Rebecca Ball. He had a brother A.W. Ball. Madeley Court
Madeley Court is a 16th-century country house in Madeley, Shropshire, England which was originally built as a Monastic grange, grange to the medieval Wenlock Priory. It has since been restored as a hotel. The house is ashlar built in two storeys to an L-shaped plan and is a Grade II* listed building.
