Kick Off (series)
The ''Kick Off'' franchise is a series of football simulation video games created by Dino Dini. ''Kick Off'' was published by Anil Gupta's publishing house Anco Software for the Atari ST and Commodore Amiga. First released in 1989, ''Kick Off'' was well-received and won awards. After the release of ''Kick Off'' several sequels were released. ''Player Manager'' was released in 1990. The game was the first game to combine a management environment (including tactics, league play, transfers, and detailed player attributes) with a football game engine (based on that of ''Kick Off''). '' Kick Off 2'' was released in 1990 as a sequel to ''Kick Off''. The game introduced a number of new features as well as several small alterations. Dino Dini
Dino Dini (born 5 June 1965) is an Italian-British video game developer and creator of the '' Kick Off'' series of football games. He was a lecturer at the NHTV Breda University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands, teaching game programming. Career In 1989 Dini's football game ''Kick Off'' was published by Anil Gupta's publishing house Anco Software, for the Atari ST & Amiga to critical acclaim and high sales. Dini followed it with ''Player Manager'' and '' Kick Off 2''. '' Goal!'' (also known as ''Dino Dini's Soccer'') was then released after Dini left Anco and moved to Virgin Games in 1993. ''Goal!'' was critically acclaimed worldwide. ''Goal!'' introduced more user friendly controls compared to ''Kick Off 2'' and entertained a wider audience than its predecessor. Zzap!64
''Zzap!64'' is a computer games magazine covering games for computers manufactured by Commodore International, especially the Commodore 64 (C64). It was published in the UK by Newsfield Publications Ltd and later by Europress Impact. The magazine launched in April, with the cover date May 1985, as the sister magazine to '' CRASH''. It focused on the C64 for much of its shelf life, but later incorporated Amiga game news and reviews. Like ''CRASH'' for the ZX Spectrum, it had a dedicated cult following amongst C64 owners and was well known for its irreverent sense of humour as well as its extensive, detailed coverage of the C64 scene. ''Personal Computer World'' (''PCW'') (February 1978 - June 2009) was the first British computer magazine. Although for at least the last decade it contained a high proportion of Windows PC content (reflecting the state of the IT field), the magazine's title was not intended as a specific reference to this. At its inception in 1978 'personal computer' was still a generic term (the Apple II, Commodore PET, PET 2001 and TRS-80 had been launched as personal computers in 1977.) Amiga Action
''Amiga Action'' was a monthly magazine about Amiga video games. It was published in the United Kingdom by Europress (later IDG Media) and ran for 89 full issues, from October 1989 to December 1996. After its closure, it was merged into sister publication ''Amiga Computing'', replacing its games section. This ran for 10 issues until September 1997 when that magazine also folded. ''Commodore User'', (also referred to as ''CU'') later renamed to ''CU Amiga'', is a British magazine initially published by Paradox Group before being acquired by EMAP. Timeline ''Commodore User'' was launched in October 1983 with an initial preview issue in June 1983. Initially, the magazine contained information about in-depth computer information of its time, such as programming tutorials, machine code features, and business software reviews. The first issues were produced and written by editor Dennis Jarrett, writer and future editor Bohdan Buciak, and editorial assistant Nicky Chapman. Features were written by a range of contributors, and the issue sizes grew rapidly from 64 to 96 pages. ''The Games Machine'' was a video game magazine that was published from 1987 until 1990 in the United Kingdom by Newsfield, which also published '' CRASH'', ''Zzap!64'', '' Amtix!'' and other magazines. History ''The Games Machine'' ran head to head with Future's recently launched '' ACE'' and EMAP's long running '' C&VG'' magazines. Unhappy with the profits from the title Newsfield decided to end the title in 1990. Newsfield however would, more or less, continue with a multi format magazine with '' Raze''. ''ST Format'' was a computer magazine in the UK covering the Atari ST during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Like other members of the Future plc Format stable - PC Format and Amiga Format, for instance, it combined software and hardware reviews with columnists, letters pages and a cover disk. The magazine was launched in 1989 when its predecessor, the short-lived ST/Amiga Format was split into two separate publications. Most of the staff went on to work at ''ST Format'' with ''Amiga Format'' essentially being a whole new magazine. ''Amiga Format'' was a British monthly computer magazine for Amiga computers, published by Future Publishing. The magazine lasted 136 issues from 1989 to 2000. The magazine was formed when Future split '' ST/Amiga Format'' into two separate publications (the other being '' ST Format''). The magazine's coverage extended to hardware, software, as well as video games. It is known to have provided each issue with a cover disk containing an assortment of demos and usually free-of-charge software and games, popularising the concept among its rival magazines.
