Joey Murphy is an American screenwriter and television producer. Murphy has written episodes of the cartoon, '' Doug'', '' The Crew'', and Cybill Shepherd's sitcom, ''Cybill'', the last two for which he also served as producer. He also collaborated with Marc Cherry on the sitcom, ''The Five Mrs. Buchanans.'' When ''Desperate Housewives'' began in 2004, Murphy was one of the staff writers, and for the second year, he was promoted to co-executive producer. Starting with the first episode of season four, he was executive producer. Joseph Patrick Murphy ( ga, Seosamh Ó Murchú; 10 May 1895 – 25 October 1920) was a member of the Irish Republican Army who died as a result of his participation in the 1920 Cork hunger strike at Cork Gaol in 1920 during the Irish War of Independence Background Joe Murphy was born in Lynn, Massachusetts in the United States of America on 10 May 1895 the son of Irish parents, Timothy Murphy and Nora O'Brien, who subsequently returned home to their native Cork City when Joe was a young child. Joseph Murphy (1877–1961) was an American comic stage actor. He went on to become a silent film actor, notably playing Andy Gump in the shorts The Gumps during the mid-1920s. His unusual tall, thin stature and extraordinary facial features were instantly recognizable. Personal life Joe Murphy was born Joseph J. Murphy on 16 May 1877 in San Jose, California. His mother Anna (Mahoney) and father John Murphy were married in Michigan, January 13, 1875 before moving to San Jose, California. On October 30 ,1920, his son Russell, aged 16, was shot and killed by a police officer after he and is friends were mistaken for robbers. Murphy filed a $18,000 lawsuit against a patrolman of the L.A. Police Department, after criminal charges against the police were dropped by the district attorney claiming that the officer killed the boy in the line of duty. He became a Jesuit priest and served, inter alia, as dean of the liberal arts college at Marquette University for eleven years and as Vicar Apostolic for the Catholic mission in British Honduras (Belize), Central America, being ordained bishop on March 19, 1924. Joseph Denis Murphy (May 20, 1898 – December 16, 1981) was an Irish author and New Thought minister, ordained in Divine Science and Religious Science. Early life Dr. Joseph Murphy was born in Ballydehob, County Cork, Ireland, the son of a private boys' school headmaster and raised a Roman Catholic. He joined the Jesuits. Murphy was enrolled in the National School and was encouraged to study for the priesthood and was accepted as a Jesuit seminarian. However, by the time he reached his late teen years, he began to question the Catholic orthodoxy of the Jesuits, and he withdrew from the seminary. Joseph Murphy (born 21 August 1981) is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Tranmere Rovers. Murphy began his career with Tranmere Rovers, and has since represented eight other clubs, making over 500 appearances in the Football League and playing twice in the Premier League for West Bromwich Albion in 2002. Born in Dublin, he was capped twice by the Republic of Ireland at international level in 2003 and 2010. Joseph Patrick Murphy (born October 16, 1967) is a Canadian former professional hockey player who was chosen first overall in the 1986 NHL Entry Draft. Murphy won Calder Cup and NCAA championships before reaching the NHL. Although Murphy struggled to make the expected impact after being selected first overall by the Detroit Red Wings, he was traded to the Edmonton Oilers in 1989. His production began to increase significantly in the 1990 playoffs to help Edmonton win their fifth Stanley Cup in seven seasons, and this success continued through his time in Edmonton. A contract dispute led to a trade to the Chicago Blackhawks in 1993, where he remained very productive. Murphy's later years were spent with the St. Louis Blues, San Jose Sharks, Boston Bruins, and Washington Capitals.
