John Jay High School (Cross River, New York)
John Jay High School is a public high school located in Lewisboro, New York. It is the only high school in the Katonah-Lewisboro School District. The school, which opened in 1956, is named after John Jay, a Founding Father of the United States, and first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, who lived nearby. Over the years, the school former mascot, the Indians, had been controversial, and it was decided in November 2019 to retire the mascot in favor of a new one. In 2020, the school announced that their new mascot would be the Wolves, a nod to the nearby Wolf Conservation Center. History John Hay High School opened in 1956, having moved from its location in Katonah, which is now Katonah Elementary School, still part of the Katonah-Lewisboro School District. John Jay Senior High School is a public high school on State Route 52 in the town of East Fishkill, New York. The school teaches grades 9 through 12. Students from Van Wyck who have successfully completed the 8th grade continue to the 9th grade at John Jay. The school is a part of the Wappingers Central School District. History John Jay was built in 1968 to accommodate the growth of the Wappingers School District. Prior to its construction, Roy C. Ketcham High School was the district's only high school, away in Wappingers Falls. The 1973 graduating class was the first class to have completed four full years at John Jay HS. John Jay's principal is David Kedzielawa. In 2002, a new biology-chemistry wing was opened for the exclusive use of these laboratory courses. In 2009, a new math wing was opened on the first floor. The John Jay Educational Campus is a New York City Department of Education facility at 237 Seventh Avenue between 4th and 5th Streets in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City. Formerly the location of John Jay High School (originally Manual Training High School), which was closed in 2004 due to poor student performance, the facility now houses John Jay School for Law (K462), Cyberarts Studio Academy (K463), Park Slope Collegiate (K464, formerly the Secondary School for Research) and Millennium Brooklyn High School (K684) . The building was constructed in 1902. It was designed by C. B. J. Snyder in the Modern French Renaissance style.
