Jimmy (TV Channel)
Jimmy (formerly Canal Jimmy) is a satellite digital television channel in France and now defunct in Italy and France. It was part of Sky Italia at n.140. History Canal Jimmy was launched on cable on November 29, 1990, by Michel Thoulouze who based the channel on the nostalgia of his adolescence. Canal Jimmy is named after two legends of the 1960s and 1970s: James (Jimmy) Dean and Jimi Hendrix. On February 14, 1992, Canal Jimmy broadcast its first exclusive series, '' Dream On''. The channel also broadcast many films (the James Dean trilogy - '' East of Eden'', ''Rebel Without a Cause'' and ''Giant'', etc.), old popular series (''The Invaders'', '' Star Trek'', etc.) and exclusive American series in their original version ('' NYPD Blue'' for example). 576i is a standard-definition digital video mode, originally used for digitizing analog television in most countries of the world where the utility frequency for electric power distribution is 50 Hz. Because of its close association with the legacy color encoding systems, it is often referred to as PAL, PAL/ SECAM or SECAM when compared to its 60 Hz (typically, see PAL-M) NTSC-colour-encoded counterpart, 480i. The ''576'' identifies a vertical resolution of 576 lines, and the ''i'' identifies it as an interlaced resolution. ''Giant '' is a 1956 American epic Western drama film, directed by George Stevens from a screenplay adapted by Fred Guiol and Ivan Moffat from Edna Ferber's 1952 novel. Sport+ was a French pay television channel on cable and satellite owned by Canal+ and is devoted to live sports broadcasting. History The channel originally launched on December 23, 1996 as AB Sports. AB Sports was created by AB Groupe to be the sports channel of its AB Sat satellite package. However, the channel was too expensive for AB Groupe to run and had generated poor viewing figures because of its programming focusing heavily on foreign sports. The Isle of Wight Festival 1970 was a music festival held between 26 and 31 August 1970 at Afton Down, an area on the western side of the Isle of Wight in England. It was the last of three consecutive music festivals to take place on the island between 1968 and 1970 and often acknowledged as the largest musical event of its time, with a larger attendance than Woodstock. Although estimates vary, ''Guinness World Records'' estimated 600,000 to 700,000 people attended. The Doors
The Doors were an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1965, with vocalist Jim Morrison, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger, and drummer John Densmore.
