James Allan (Australian Footballer)
James Allan (born 17 January 1985) is an Australian rules football player who played for the North Adelaide Roosters and the Norwood Redlegs in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). Allan is a three-time winner of the league's highest individual honor, the Magarey Medal (2007, 2010 and 2011). Career Allan was recruited to the Roosters from his home in Lara, Victoria, for the 2007 season and became an instant star for the club. After making his league debut against Central District in round 1 of the 2007 season Allan went on to win the first of his three Magarey Medals. He dominated the media awards for the season winning '' The Advertiser'' and '' Football Budget'' Player of the Year and won selection in ''The Advertiser''s Team of the Year. He also won North Adelaide's best and fairest award for the first of five consecutive times. James Allan (bishop)
Hugh James Pearson Allan (7 August 1928 – 26 June 2013) was a Canadian Anglican bishop. Allan was educated at the University of Manitoba. He was ordained in 1955 and began his ordained ministry with curacies in Winnipeg, after which he spent four years as a missionary at Peguis First Nation. From 1960 to 1968 he was Rector of St Mark's Winnipeg and then Rural Dean of Cypress. He was Dean of Qu'Appelle and Rector of St Paul's Cathedral, Regina until his ordination to the episcopate as the 6th Bishop of Keewatin in 1974. He resigned his see in 1991 and was an assistant bishop in the Diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island The Diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island is a diocese of the Ecclesiastical Province of Canada of the Anglican Church of Canada. James McGrigor Allan (1827, Bristol - 1916, Epsom) was a British anthropologist and writer. Biography McGrigor was the son of Colin Allan, at one time chief medical officer of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Jane Gibbon. He opposed women's right to vote and argued that universal suffrage would cause the disruption of domestic ties, the desecration of marriage and the dissolution of the family. James Allan (Queensland Politician)
James Allan (20 December 1856 – 26 January 1938) was a draper and a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Early life and business career Allan was born in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire, Scotland, to parents Robert Allan and his wife Mary (née Hodge). Receiving his final education at Andersonian University, Allan started his working life as an apprentice draper to Daley & Co. in Glasgow before arriving in Australia in 1879. Here he worked as an assistant for D. L. Brown & Co. and in 1882, along with Robert Stark formed Allan & Stark, drapers. The business started out at South Brisbane, but by 1895 business had so greatly increased that they moved to Queen Street, in the centre of Brisbane. In 1911 Allan & Stark was formed into a private company with many of its employees having acquired an interest in it. James Allan (born 1960) is a Canadian-Australian law professor and writer. He is the Garrick Professor of Law at the University of Queensland. Allan has degrees from Queen's University, the London School of Economics and the University of Hong Kong. He qualified as a barrister and solicitor with The Law Society of Upper Canada in 1988. Prior to his appointment at the University of Queensland, Allan taught at the University of Otago. As a legal scholar, Allan is well-known for his skepticism regarding bills of rights.
