Jörg Reinhardt
Jörg Reinhardt (born 11 March 1956) is a German businessman who has been the chairman of the board of directors of the Swiss pharmaceutical group Novartis AG since 2013. Since 2017, he has also been a member of the board of directors of the Swiss reinsurance group Swiss Re. Life and career Reinhardt was born on 11 March 1956 in Homburg, Saarland, Germany. He studied pharmacy at the University of Saarland and graduated in 1982 with a doctorate. He started his career in 1982 with Sandoz, who merged with Ciba-Geigy in 1996 to form Novartis. At Sandoz, he worked in research and development and became head of development in 1994. Following the merger into Novartis, Reinhardt was responsible for preclinical development throughout the group and later for the entire drug development. Homburg (; , ; ) is a town in Saarland, Germany and the administrative seat of the Saarpfalz district. With a population of 43,029 inhabitants (2022), it is the third largest town in the state.
