János Nagy Balogh
János Nagy Balogh (2 August 1874, Budapest – 22 November 1919, Budapest) was a Hungarian painter and graphic artist who specialized in proletarian subjects. Biography He came from a humble, working-class family. His father died early and his mother had to support the family doing laundry, so he spent much of his youth in poverty. Later, he was apprenticed to a Master Painter whose drunken, abusive behavior made him seek a way to escape, so he began saving his money with the goal of becoming an artist. Originally, he enrolled at the "School of Fine and Applied Arts", where he attended night classes while supporting himself by house-painting. János Balogh (10 September 1892, Kézdivásárhely, now Târgu Secuiesc – 12 September 1980, Budapest) was a Hungarian–Romanian chess master. He was a Romanian Champion in 1930. János Balogh (19 February 1913, Lonka, Austro-Hungarian Empire – 15 August 2002, Budapest) was a Hungarian zoologist, ecologist, and professor, a recipient of the Kossuth and Széchenyi Prizes, and member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. János Balogh (footballer)
János Balogh (born 29 November 1982) is a Hungary, Hungarian association football, football coach and a former Goalkeeper (association football), goalkeeper. He is the goalkeepers coach with Debreceni VSC, Debrecen. Club career Early career Balogh began his career with hometown club Debreceni VSC, picking up a Magyar Kupa winner's medal in 2001. In 2004, he joined FC Sopron for a season where he won the Hungarian cup for a second time, before spending a brief spell with Nyíregyháza Spartacus and then returning to Debreceni VSC. The following seasons proved to be very successful domestically as Balogh won the Nemzeti Bajnokság, Hungarian League and the Szuperkupa in 2007 and the Hungarian cup for a third time in 2008. In August 2008 he left to join Heart of Midlothian F.C., Heart of Midlothian. 1988 Individual Speedway World Championship
The 1988 Individual Speedway World Championship was the 43rd edition of the official World Championship to determine the world champion rider. The final was held at the Vojens Speedway Center, owned by former World Champion Ole Olsen. Despite the country having won seven World Individual Championships between three riders since 1971 (Olsen, Erik Gundersen and Hans Nielsen), it was the first time Denmark hosted the World Final. Gundersen renewed his fierce rivalry with Nielsen as both finished on 14 points to tie for the lead of the Championship. However it was Gundersen that won the toss to choose his starting gate for the run-off. He chose the outside and on a wet track he won his third title by defeating Nielsen in the run-off.
