Just Friends (Danny! Song)
"Just Friends" is a song written, produced and performed by American rapper/producer Danny!. Originally a hidden track on the Japanese version of his 2007 ''Danny Is Dead'' EP, Definitive Jux Records released the live version of "Just Friends" as a single domestically on March 10, 2009 in anticipation for '' Where Is Danny?'', his debut album for the label. A studio version was originally going to appear on the upcoming album, but was later scrapped in lieu of ''Where Is Danny?'' 's new artistic direction. To date, "Just Friends" is Danny!'s sole Def Jux release. The song is performed over an extended version of "Twilight Mist", which was originally released on Danny!'s 2006 instrumental album ''Dream, Interrupted''. A remix of "Wanderland" (from Danny!'s lauded '' And I Love H.E.R.: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack'') can be found on the album's B-side. Daniel Keith Swain (born August 18, 1983), known mononymously as Danny!, is an American rapper, record producer, singer, and composer. Swain rose to prominence after his debut performance on ''Late Night with Jimmy Fallon'', where he premiered his song "Evil". After joining Okayplayer Records, Danny! released his album ''Payback (album), Payback'', cited by AllMusic as one of the best hip-hop releases of the year. Ken Peplowski (born May 23, 1959) is an American jazz clarinetist and tenor saxophonist. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, United States, and known primarily for playing swing music. For over a decade, Peplowski recorded for Concord Records. George Masso
George Masso (November 17, 1926 – October 22, 2019) was an American jazz trombonist, bandleader, vibraphonist, and composer specializing in swing and Dixieland. Masso is notable for his work from 1948–1950 as a member of the Jimmy Dorsey band. Masso was born in Cranston, Rhode Island, United States. Masso began learning to play the trumpet, but expanded his diversity by becoming competent on other instruments. He was further inspired by hearing Lou McGarity playing trombone on Benny Goodman's recording of "Yours". Masso secured a two year spell in the late 1940s in Jimmy Dorsey's band, before finding the life of a professional jazz musician financially difficult, and Masso quit performing.
