The men's 100 kg judo competition at the 2008 Summer Olympics was held on August 14 at the Beijing Science and Technology University Gymnasium. Preliminary rounds started at 12:00 pm CST. The Beijing Science and Technology University Gymnasium () is an indoor arena located on the campus of the University of Science and Technology Beijing. Construction The venue covers an area of 2.38 hectares and the total floor space of construction reaches 24,662 square metres. The seating capacity is 8,024 seats, including 3,956 temporary ones. Keith Morgan (judoka)
Keith Morgan (born November 12, 1973, in Calgary, Alberta) is a retired judoka from Canada, who competed in four consecutive Summer Olympics, and won four medals at the Pan American Games. Sporting career Morgan represented his native country at four consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1996 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was affiliated with the Club de Judo Shikodan in Montreal. He is the twin brother of Colin Morgan, who competed as a judoka at the 1996 Summer Olympics. Morgan was inducted into Judo Canada's Hall of Fame in 2013. Keith is also a sponsored athlete of Healy Ford. Hassane Azzoun (; born September 28, 1979) is an Algerian judoka, who played for the half-heavyweight category. He is a six-time medalist at the African Judo Championships, and also, a bronze medalist for his division at the 2007 All-Africa Games in Algiers. At age twenty-nine, Azzoun made his official debut for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where he competed for the men's half-heavyweight class (100 kg). He lost his first preliminary match by an ippon and a sode tsurikomi goshi (sleeve lifting and pulling hip throw) to Azerbaijan's Movlud Miraliyev. Because his opponent advanced further into the semi-finals, Azzoun offered another shot for the bronze medal by entering the repechage rounds. Peter Tendai Cousins (born 3 March 1981 in Harlow) is a British judoka, who competed at the Olympic Games. Judo career Cousins came to prominence after becoming champion of Great Britain, winning the middleweight division at the British Judo Championships in 1999. He then followed this up by winning three consecutive British titles in 2001, 2002 and 2003. Two years later in 2005, he won a fifth British title before securing a bronze medal at the 2006 European Judo Championships, in Tampere. Adler Volmar (born March 5, 1977) is a Haitian-American fourth-degree black belt judoka. A dual citizen, he competed for Haiti at the 1996 Summer Olympics and for the United States at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Early life and career in Haiti Volmar was born in Miami, Florida, on March 5, 1977, while his mother Yolette was visiting that city from her home in Cap-Haïtien, Haiti.
