The women's 78 kg (also known as ''half-heavyweight'') tournament in the judo at the 2008 Summer Olympics was held on August 14 at the Beijing Science and Technology University Gymnasium. The Beijing Science and Technology University Gymnasium () is an indoor arena located on the campus of the University of Science and Technology Beijing. Michelle Rogers (born 21 January 1976 in Salford) is a British judoka, who competed at two Olympic Games. Judo career Rogers came to prominence after becoming the champion of Great Britain, winning the heavyweight division at the British Judo Championships in 1993.
