José Barreto (Brazilian Footballer)
José Marcio Ramirez Barreto (born 3 September 1976) is a retired Brazilian football player who appeared with Mohun Bagan AC. 2007–08, Later he played for Calcutta Football League outfit Bhawanipore FC, and captained the team. He also worked as assistant coach of Indian Super League club Atlético de Kolkata in 2019. Career Mohun Bagan Barreto came to India after signing with Mohun Bagan AC in 1999. In June 2006, he switched from Mahindra United back to Mohun Bagan, for an Indian football record transfer fee of 60 lakhs. He played his last match for Mohun Bagan on 6 May 2012 against Pune FC in last round of I-League match. Mohun Bagan Athletic Club is an Indian professional sports club based in Kolkata, West Bengal. Founded in 1889, its football section is one of the oldest in India and Asia. The club is most notable for its victory over East Yorkshire Regiment in the 1911 IFA Shield final. This victory made Mohun Bagan the first all-Indian side to win a championship over a British side and was a major moment during India's push for independence. Indian Super League
The Indian Super League (ISL) is an Indian professional league for men's association football clubs. At the top of the Indian football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. Organised by the All India Football Federation (AIFF), and their commercial partners Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL), it is officially known as Hero Indian Super League for sponsorship ties with Hero MotoCorp. The league currently comprises 11 clubs. Each season of the tournament generally runs from October to March. I-League
The I-League (known as Hero I-League for sponsorship ties with Hero MotoCorp) is the second-tier men's professional football competition of the Indian football league system. It is currently contested by 12 clubs across the country with the winners getting promotion to play in the premier division, the Indian Super League. The competition was founded in 2007 as the successor to the National Football League, with the first season starting in November 2007. The league was launched as India's first ever top-tier professional football league with the aim to increase the player pool for the India national team.
