John Charles Williams (born 8 November 1980) is a former English cricketer. Williams was a right-handed Batsman (cricket), batsman who bowled right-arm Seam bowling, medium pace. He was born at Weston-super-Mare, Somerset. Williams represented the Somerset Cricket Board in a single List A cricket, List A match against Staffordshire County Cricket Club, Staffordshire in the 1st round of the 2000 NatWest Trophy at the Gorway Ground, Walsall. Weston-super-Mare
Weston-super-Mare, also known simply as Weston, is a seaside town in North Somerset, England. It lies by the Bristol Channel south-west of Bristol between Worlebury Hill and Bleadon Hill. It includes the suburbs of Mead Vale, Milton, Oldmixon, West Wick, Worlebury, Uphill and Worle. Its population at the 2011 census was 76,143. Since 1983, Weston has been twinned with Hildesheim in Germany. The local area has been occupied since the Iron Age. It was still a small village until the 19th century when it developed as a seaside resort. A railway station and two piers were built. 2000 NatWest Trophy
The 2000 NatWest Trophy was the 20th and last NatWest Trophy before being renamed as the Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy for the 2001 season. It was an English limited overs county cricket tournament which was held between 2 May and 26 August 2000. The tournament was won by Gloucestershire who defeated Warwickshire by 22 runs in the final at Lord's. Format The 18 first-class counties, were joined by all twenty Minor Counties, plus Huntingdonshire. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. Gorway Ground is a cricket ground in Walsall, Staffordshire. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1889, when Walsall Cricket Club played Wednesbury. The first Minor Counties Championship match was held at the ground in 1912 and saw Staffordshire played Durham. Staffordshire used the ground during a number of periods in the 20th century, using the ground for home matches up to 2007. During this time, the ground hosted 27 Minor Counties Championship matches and 5 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches.
