John Watson (racing Driver)
John Marshall Watson (born 4 May 1946) is a British former racing driver and broadcaster from Northern Ireland, who competed in Formula One from to . Watson won five Formula One Grands Prix across 12 seasons. Watson competed in Formula One for Brabham, Surtees, Lotus, Penske and McLaren. He finished third in the 1982 World Drivers' Championship with McLaren. Watson also competed in the World Sportscar Championship, finishing runner-up in 1987 with Jaguar. Upon his retirement from motor racing, Watson became a commentator for Eurosport from 1989 until 1996. Since 2022, he has served as the lead commentator for GT World Challenge Europe, and also commentated on the 2022 Miami Grand Prix for F1TV. The 1982 Dutch Grand Prix was a Formula One motor race held at Circuit Park Zandvoort, Zandvoort on 3 July 1982. The race, contested over 72 laps, was the ninth race of the 1982 Formula One season and was won by Didier Pironi, driving a Ferrari 126C, Ferrari, with Nelson Piquet second in a Brabham BT50, Brabham-BMW in Formula One, BMW and Keke Rosberg third in a Williams FW08, Williams-Ford Motor Company, Ford. René Arnoux started from pole position, but he crashed out at the notorious Tarzan Corner when his Renault in Formula One, Renault's throttle stuck open and he hit the tyre barriers. Arnoux walked away from the crash unharmed. This was the first Grand Prix after the death of Riccardo Paletti three weeks earlier in Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Montreal. Richard Lloyd Racing
Richard Lloyd Racing (RLR), originally named GTi Engineering, was a British auto racing team created in 1977 by driver Richard Lloyd. Originally named for the Volkswagen Golf GTIs that Lloyd raced in the British Saloon Car Championship (BSCC), they went on to become a successful Porsche privateer in the World Sportscar Championship (WSC). Richard Lloyd Racing eventually folded at the end of the 1990 season due to the increased cost of the World Championship. The team was also known for their extensively modified Porsche 956s and 962Cs, developed to overcome some problems in the original Porsche design and construction.
