John O'Neill (guitarist)
John Joseph O'Neill (born 26 August 1957) is a musician who is the rhythm guitarist and principal songwriter of the punk rock/ new wave band the Undertones. O'Neill, along with his younger brother Vincent and friends Feargal Sharkey, Michael Bradley and Billy Doherty, founded the Undertones in 1975, but Vincent O'Neill was replaced the following year with his younger brother Damian O'Neill, who became the band's lead guitarist. John O'Neill wrote the majority of the band's singles and a number of album tracks (occasionally collaborating with his brother Damian or Michael Bradley). Undertones songs written by John O'Neill include the singles " Teenage Kicks", " Jimmy Jimmy", " Here Comes the Summer" and " You've Got My Number", and such notable album tracks as "When Saturday Comes", "I Gotta Getta", "Girls That Don't Talk" and "You're Welcome". Teenage Kicks
"Teenage Kicks" is the debut single by Northern Irish punk rock band the Undertones. Written in the summer of 1977 by J.J. O'Neill, the band's rhythm guitarist and principal songwriter, the song was recorded on 15 June 1978 and initially released that September on independent Belfast record label Good Vibrations, before the band signed to Sire Records on 2 October 1978. ''AU'' (formerly ''Alternative Ulster'') was a magazine written, designed and published in Belfast, Northern Ireland, which began life in 1977 as a fanzine and later radio show. The magazine was launched in June 2003. 81 issues were published in total, with the final issue being published in March 2012. Rare (Northern Irish Band)
Rare were a Northern Irish trip hop band in the 1990s from Derry. The line-up consisted of singer Mary Gallagher, Locky Morris, Seán Ó'Néill (aka John O'Neill, formerly of The Undertones and That Petrol Emotion) and David Whiteside. Morris and Ó'Néill were the main songwriters. Their music was sometimes labeled as trip hop. Despite some positive reviews in the music press, their only notable chart appearance was the single "Something Wild" which reached #57 in the UK Singles Chart in 1996. Today FM is an Irish commercial FM radio station, owned and operated by Bauer Media Audio Ireland Limited.
