John O'Loughlin (dual Player)
John O'Loughlin (born 7 January 1989) is a Gaelic footballer and hurler from County Laois. He usually plays in defence or midfield for the Laois county football team and in 2007 was part of the Laois teams that won the Leinster Minor Football Championship and Leinster Under-21 Football Championship. In 2008, he was called on to the Laois senior squad by manager Liam Kearns. He played his first match for Laois against Galway in Salthill in the national league and made his championship debut in May 2008 in a win over Wicklow. In July 2011, he joined Dublin club St Brigid's, which is based in Castleknock. O'Loughlin follows several other Laois players who have recently transferred to Dublin clubs, with Parnells club the most prominent destination. O'Loughlin made a winning start with his new club on 26 July 2011 as he started on the St Brigid's team which defeated Trinity Gaels to move to the top of Dublin's Division 1 league table. International Rules Series
The International Rules Series is a senior men's international rules football competition between the Australia international rules football team (selected by the Australian Football League) and the Ireland international rules football team (selected by the Gaelic Athletic Association). The series is played biannually over two Test matches in November after the completion of the AFL Grand Final and the All-Ireland Football Final, which are both traditionally played in late September, and the winner is the team with the highest cumulative score over both Tests; however, there have been six unscheduled years since 2009. Dual player or dual star is a term used in Hiberno-English to describe someone who competes in multiple sports — for example, in Victorian Ireland, cricket and hurling. The term today in Gaelic games typically describes a male player who plays both Gaelic football and hurling or, if a female player, a player of ladies' Gaelic football and camogie. The player does not necessarily have to play at the same standard in both sports. The number of dual stars at county level has decreased recently due to the increasing demands placed upon the best players of both sports. Laois Intermediate Football Championship
The Laois Intermediate Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football competition contested by mid-tier Laois GAA clubs. The Laois County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association has organised it since 1907. The Heath are the title holders (2022) defeating Arles–Kilcruise in the Final. Format The Intermediate Championship has a 'back door' and operates similarly to the Senior Championship (and Junior Championship C only) by going for a straight knockout but the 'back door' is in place for anyone losing out. Michael Lawlor
Michael P. Lawlor is an American politician, criminal justice professor, and lawyer from Connecticut. A Democrat, he served as a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives from 1987 to 2011, representing the 99th district in East Haven. Ross Munnelly (born 23 December 1982) is an Irish sportsperson from County Laois. He plays Gaelic football for his club Arles–Kilcruise and previously for the Laois senior team. In 2003, he was part of the Laois team that won the Leinster Senior Football Championship title for the first time since 1946. He usually plays at wing forward for Laois.
