John Parsons O'Donnell (July 23, 1896 in Somerville, Massachusetts–December 17, 1961 at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.) was an American political journalist and analyst known for working for the ''New York Daily News''. Early life and education The son of a doctor, O'Donnell graduated from Tufts College in 1920 with a B.A. degree. He then did graduate work at Harvard University and Dijon University. Career O'Donnell served as an infantry lieutenant in World War I. In 1923, he became a reporter and assistant city editor at the ''New York American'', a post he held until 1927, when he joined the ''New York Daily News''. After others noticed his knack for political journalism, he was assigned to report on Franklin D. Roosevelt's 1932 presidential inauguration. In 1939, after World War II broke out, he became a correspondent for the ''Daily News''; in this capacity he spent time with the British military's forces on the Maginot line in France. John Harrison O'Donnell
John Harrison O'Donnell (April 7, 1838 – October 26, 1912) was a physician and political figure in Manitoba. He was a member of the Legislative Council of Manitoba from 1871 to 1876 and served as its speaker in 1875. He was born in Simcoe, Upper Canada, the son of John O'Donnell, a native of Ireland, and was educated at Victoria University and Trinity Medical College. In 1861, he married Hannah Routledge. He practised in St. Catharines, Ontario and Montreal before coming to Manitoba during the Red River Rebellion of 1869. While helping defend John Christian Schultz's property, O'Donnell was taken prisoner. He was a justice of the peace and made out the arrest warrant for Louis Riel when the Wolseley Expedition arrived in 1870. John O'Donnell (born between December 1980 and July 1981) is an Irish politician, businessman and self-described developer, populist and realist. As of 2020, he is a member of Donegal County Council, representing the Milford Electoral Area. Electoral history O'Donnell's father Eddie was also a county councillor. Eddie O'Donnell was killed in a car accident in 1993. John O'Donnell first stood as a candidate at the 2014 Donegal County Council election. John O'Donnell (Irish Politician, Born 1866)
John O’Donnell (1866–1920) was an Irish journalist, Nationalist politician and Member of Parliament (MP) in the United Kingdom House of Commons from 1900 to 1910. He first became active in politics as an organiser for the United Irish League (UIL) in County Mayo during 1898–89 as a protégé of William O'Brien . When the Irish Parliamentary Party (IPP) MP Michael Davitt resigned his seat in protest against the Second Boer War, O′Donnell was elected as MP for South Mayo in a by-election held 27 February 1900. He was re-elected in the October 1900 general election, and represented a newer generation of nationalist politicians. He became national secretary of the UIL, and remained loyal to William O’Brien even after O’Brien's resignation from the IPP in 1903, trying to orchestrate his return to the party. John P O'Donnell (born 1890; date of death unknown) was an Irish Australian soldier and poet, fl. 1915–1918. O'Donnell was born in Tuam, County Galway in Ireland in 1890, the son of an accountant in the National Bank. He served in the Australian Army during World War I, arriving at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915. He was there eight months and wounded in that time. A poem of his - "Lines on Australian Graves at Gallipoli" - was published in the ''Dublin Evening News'' of 18 September 1915, and he was described as of the machine gun section of the Australian Expeditionary Force, a nephew of the Hon. B. McM. Glynn, iLH.R., having arrived in Australia from Ireland 18 months previously. He received an appointment to the staff of the Bank of Adelaide, and for some time lived with an uncle, the late Dr. Eugene Glynn. John O'Donnell (born 13 November 1985) is a London-based Irish Traveller professional boxer who is a former holder of the Commonwealth welterweight championship. John O'Donnell (born 1962) is a long-standing member of the Australian music industry. Starting as a freelance writer, he eventually became the music editor of ''Rolling Stone Australia'' before leaving to co-found and edit ''Juice Magazine''. In 1994 O'Donnell created the Murmur label for Sony Music Australia and went on to sign bands including Silverchair, Ammonia, Jebediah and Something for Kate. He later worked for Sony at the corporate level before leaving for EMI Music Australia in 2002. Ultimately O'Donnell was the CEO of EMI in the Oceania region from 2002 until September 2008. Because O'Donnell's departure from EMI was quickly followed by the departure of many of its biggest selling artists (Missy Higgins, Silverchair), the situation was interpreted by some in the media as symptomatic of the difficult takeover of EMI by Terra Firma.
