John Fraser (footballer, Born 1936)
John Fraser (born 2 March 1936) is a Scottish former association football, footballer, who played primarily as an Midfielder#Winger, outside right for Hibernian F.C., Hibernian (Hibs) in the late 1950s and early 1960s. After a brief spell with Stenhousemuir F.C., Stenhousemuir, Fraser returned to Hibs as a coach (sport), coach, a position he held for 10 years under three different managers. Fraser signed for Hibs in 1954, but was initially a part-time player while he completed his Conscription in the United Kingdom#After 1945, national service. He had the unenviable task of covering for and eventually replacing Gordon Smith (footballer born 1924), Gordon Smith, who Fraser idolised. The Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, sometimes referred to as the European Fairs Cup, Fairs Cities' Cup, or simply as the Fairs Cup, was a European football competition played between 1955 and 1971. It is often considered the predecessor to the UEFA Cup (now the UEFA Europa League). The competition was the idea of FIFA vice-president and executive committee member Ernst Thommen, Italian Football Federation president and FIFA executive committee member Ottorino Barassi, and the English Football Association general secretary and president of FIFA from 1961 to 1974, Stanley Rous. Eddie Turnbull
Edward Hunter Turnbull (12 April 1923 – 30 April 2011) was a Scottish professional football player and manager. He played as a forward for Hibernian and Scotland, forming part of the Hibs " Famous Five" forward line. He then had successful spells as manager of Aberdeen and Hibs, winning a major trophy with each club. Early life Turnbull was in the Royal Navy during the Second World War, serving aboard , and . Willie MacFarlane (footballer Born 1930)
Willie MacFarlane (17 March 1930 – 11 March 2010) was a Scottish football player and manager who played for and managed Hibernian. Early life and playing career MacFarlane played as a full–back for Hibernian in the 1950s, when the club featured the forward line known as The Famous Five. He was born in Leith and brought up in the same area ( Hutchison) as goalkeeper Tommy Younger, with whom he played for Hutchison Vale and the Army. Both players were then signed for Hibs by manager Hugh Shaw. He was taken by Hibs on a tour of Brazil in 1953 to play in three games in the Maracana stadium against Vasco da Gama, Botafogo and Fluminense. Robert Fleming Blyth Shankly (25 February 1910 – 5 May 1982) was a professional football player and manager from the village of Glenbuck in Ayrshire, Scotland. He was the elder brother to Bill Shankly the former Liverpool manager.
