John Fleming, 1st Earl Of Wigtown
John Fleming, 6th or 7th Lord Fleming (1567–1619), Scottish aristocrat and diplomat. John was the son of John Fleming, 5th Lord Fleming and Elizabeth Ross. His main residence was Boghall Castle at Biggar, South Lanarkshire, Biggar, home of the Clan Fleming, Fleming family. He was thought to be a Catholic. In October 1590 James VI of Scotland sent John, Lord Fleming as ambassador to Christian IV of Denmark and to Johann VII, Duke of Mecklenburg and Henry Julius, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg. He travelled to London first. According to the English diplomat George Nicholson (diplomat), George Nicholson, in March 1601 Fleming was thought to have plotted against three courtiers close to the king, George Home, 1st Earl of Dunbar, Sir George Home, David Murray, 1st Viscount of Stormont, Sir David Murray, and Thomas Erskine, 1st Earl of Kellie, Sir Thomas Erskine. John Fleming, 5th Lord Fleming
John Fleming, 5th Lord Fleming (1529–6 September 1572), was a Scottish nobleman and a supporter of Mary, Queen of Scots. Life He was the son of Malcolm Fleming, 3rd Lord Fleming, lord high chamberlain, by his wife Johanna or Jonet Stewart, natural daughter of James IV. He succeeded his brother James Fleming, 4th Lord Fleming. He was Governor of Dumbarton Castle in 1565 and was made the Principal Master Usher of the Queen's Chamber. He supported Mary, Queen of Scots, fighting for her at the Battles of Carberry Hill and Langside. He accompanied her on her flight to England in 1568 and returned to Scotland in 1569. During the Marian Civil War he held Dumbarton Castle for the Queen. While John was defending Dumbarton Castle against the supporters of James VI in 1570 in the cause of Mary, Queen of Scots, his young family was harassed at his houses at Biggar and Cumbernauld Castle by Regent Lennox's men. John Graham, 3rd Earl Of Montrose
John Graham, 3rd Earl of Montrose (1548 – 9 November 1608) was a Scottish peer and Chancellor of the University of St Andrews from 1599 to 1604. He was Lord High Commissioner to the Parliament of Scotland, from 1605 to 1606. John Fleming, 2nd Earl Of Wigtown
The title of Earl of Wigtown (or Wigton or Wigtoun) was created twice in the Peerage of Scotland. The first creation was in 1341 for Malcolm Fleming, and was surrendered in 1372, when the second Earl sold the Earldom and territory to Archibald the Grim, Lord of Galloway. The transfer was confirmed by Robert III later in the same year. The Douglas family, Earls of Douglas, held the Earldom of Wigtown for the next hundred years, until the attainder of the 9th Earl of Douglas in 1455. John Seton, Lord Barns (Born 1553. died 1594) was a Scottish diplomat, courtier and judge. Life He was the third son of George Seton, 7th Lord Seton, by his wife Isabel, daughter of Sir William Hamilton of Sanquhar. While still a young man he went to Spain and the court of Philip II, by whom he was made Knight of the Military Order of Santiago and master of the household. He was an attendant to the Earl of Leicester in England in 1575. Francis Walsingham found his presence in the earl's household concerning, and Thomas Randolph wrote to Regent Morton about him. Seton was appointed master of the stable to James VI of Scotland and Great Master of His Highness' Horses in August 1581. William Livingstone Of Kilsyth
Sir William Livingstone of Kilsyth (died 1627) was a Scottish landowner and courtier. He was a son of William Livingstone of Kilsyth and Christian Graham, a daughter of William Graham, 3rd Earl of Menteith and Margaret Mowbray of Barnbougle, widow of John Cornwall of Bonhard. This branch of the Livingstone family had long been landowners in Kilsyth, then also known as "Monyabroch". In 1605 the church minister John Welsh of Ayr wrote to him from his prison cell in Blackness Castle, assuring him that the wrath of God would fall on Archbishop Spottiswood and his family. Ludovic Stewart, 2nd Duke of Lennox and 1st Duke of Richmond (29 September 157416 February 1624), lord of the Manor of Cobham, Kent, was a Scottish nobleman who through their paternal lines was a second cousin of King James VI of Scotland and I of England. He was involved in the Plantation of Ulster in Ireland and the colonization of Maine in New England.
