John Elias Bass (July 22, 1848 – September 25, 1888) was an American professional baseball player who played shortstop in the major leagues from -. He played for the Cleveland Forest Citys, Brooklyn Atlantics, and Hartford Dark Blues. In 1871, he led the National Association in triples with ten. Bass served in Company F of the 1st New York Cavalry Regiment during the American Civil War. John Bass (cricketer)
John George Bass (9 August 1903 – 16 October 1992) was an English cricketer. Bass was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm medium pace. He was born at Abington, Northamptonshire. Bass made two first-class appearances for Northamptonshire in the 1935 County Championship against Leicestershire and Sussex. In the match against Leicestershire, Bass scored 5 runs in Northamptonshire's first-innings, before becoming one of eight victims for Haydon Smith. In their second-innings, he scored 16 runs before becoming one of seven victims for George Geary. He also bowled thirteen wicketless overs in this match. In the match against Sussex at Horsham, Bass scored 12 runs in Northamptonshire's first-innings, before being dismissed by Alan Melville, while in their second-innings the same bowler dismissed him for 10 runs. John Bass (July 18, 1926 – March 25, 2007) was an American boxer, schoolteacher, school principal, and Democratic politician from St. Louis, Missouri, who served in the Missouri State Senate from 1981 to 1991. Background Bass was born in St. Louis on July 18, 1926. He graduated from Sumner High School, served in the United States Navy, and was successful enough as a boxer to win an athletic scholarship to Lincoln University of Missouri, where he earned a B.S. in business administration, and went on to earn an M.A. in educational administration from Washington University. He became a teacher at, and eventually principal of, Beaumont High School. He also became active in the Democratic Party, which was overwhelmingly dominant in St. Louis city politics. John R
John R. (born John Richbourg, August 20, 1910 – February 15, 1986) was an American radio disc jockey who attained fame in the 1950s and 1960s for playing rhythm and blues music on Nashville radio station WLAC. He was also a notable record producer and artist manager. Richbourg was arguably the most popular and charismatic of the four announcers at WLAC who showcased popular African-American music in nightly programs from the late 1940s to the early 1970s. (The other three were Gene Nobles, Herman Grizzard, and Bill "Hoss" Allen.) Later rock music disc jockeys, such as Alan Freed and Wolfman Jack, mimicked Richbourg's practice of using speech that simulated African-American street language of the mid-twentieth century. Richbourg's highly stylized approach to on-air presentation of both music and advertising earned him popularity, but it also created identity confusion. John Meredith Bass
John Meredith Bass (January 19, 1804– March 14, 1878) was an American banker, planter and Whig politician based in Nashville, Tennessee. He was active in politics in the city and region. Among his roles was serving as the mayor of Nashville, Tennessee from 1833 to 1834, and again in 1869. Early life John Meredith Bass was born on January 19, 1804, in Nashville, Tennessee. Jon Bass (footballer)
Jonathan David Bass (born 1 July 1976) is an English former professional footballer. He started his career with Birmingham City as a trainee in 1994. He played in the Blues' League Cup semi-final against Leeds United in 1996. Bass was Birmingham's first-choice right-back for the 1997–98 season, but lost his place to Jerry Gill towards the end of the season. The subsequent signing of Gary Rowett from Derby County in August 1998, pushed Bass further down the pecking order. During the next three years Bass only made sporadic appearance for Birmingham, and had a loan spell at Gillingham in 2000. He was released from his contract at the end of the 2000–01 season, having made 68 league appearances for Birmingham.
