Johann Baptist Weiß (1753-1800) was a German Benedictine monk, teacher and playwright. Life Johann Baptist Weiß was born on 4 January 1753 in Wittichen, took his monastic vows on 6 June 1773 at St. Blaise Abbey in the Black Forest and was ordained as a priest in 1776. He became a teacher of theology at the abbey. Later, he took over the parish of Schluchsee. On 21 June 1793 he gave the eulogy at the graveside of the abbot, Martin Gerbert. Johann Baptist Weiss (17 July 1820 in Ettenheim, Baden – 8 March 1899 in Graz) was a German historian. Life After completing his high-school studies he attended the universities of Freiburg, Tübingen, Heidelberg, and Munich, where he devoted himself to the study of modern languages and history. His first position was that of teacher of French and English at the high-school for the sciences at Freiburg; in 1848 he was appointed by the Government of Baden lecturer on history at the University of Freiburg. In 1848, the year of revolution, he was a strong adherent of the Catholic party. In 1850 he became editor of the ''Freiburger Zeitung''; in 1852 he became involved in a quarrel with the Government of Baden and, on this account, accepted a call as professor of Austrian history from the University of Graz, where he remained during the years 1853–91. Flute Sonata In D Major (HWV 378)
The ''Flute sonata in D major'' ( HWV 378) was composed (?circa 1707) by George Frideric Handel, for flute and basso continuo. The work is also referred to as HHA iv/18,41. The work was originally attributed to 'Sr Weisse' (?Johann Sigismund Weiss), but is now considered to have been written by Handel. There is no autograph, but the sonata appears in an important manuscript of 18th century solo sonatas in the Brussels Royal Conservatory, and was published in facsimile in 1979. A typical performance of the work takes about seven minutes. The Pirate Party of Canada (; PPCA) was a minor party in federal Canadian politics. Founded in 2009, the party officially registered with Elections Canada in 2010. The PPCA is modelled on the Swedish Pirate Party and advocates intellectual property reform, privacy protection, network neutrality and greater government openness.
