Jim Beall (California Politician)
James Thomas Beall Jr. (born December 7, 1951) is an American politician who served in the California State Senate from 2012 to 2020. A Democrat, he represented the 15th Senate District, which encompasses the South Bay and Silicon Valley. Prior to being elected to the State Senate in 2012, Beall served as a member of the California State Assembly representing the 24th Assembly District. Before his time in the Legislature, he served as a member of the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors, as well as a member of the San Jose City Council. James Andrew Beall
James Andrew "Jack" Beall (October 25, 1866 – February 11, 1929) was an American politician. He represented Texas in the United States House of Representatives from 1903 to 1915. Early years Beall was born on a farm near Midlothian, Texas to Richard Beall and Adelaide Pierce Beall. He attended the county schools and then taught school in 1884 and 1885. He was graduated from the law department of the University of Texas at Austin, in 1890, and was admitted to the bar the same year and commenced practice in Waxahachie, Texas. Public service Beall was a member of the Texas House of Representatives, 1892–1895. He served in the Texas Senate, 1895–1899, and was elected as a Democrat to the 58th Congress, and to the five succeeding Congresses, March 4, 1903 – March 3, 1915. Nora Campos
Nora Campos (born June 15, 1965) is an American politician from California. Campos formerly served as a California State Assemblymember and was the Speaker pro tempore during her tenure. In 2020, she was unsuccessful in her campaign for the California's 15th State Senate district. She served on the San Jose City Council representing District 5 (2001-2010). She was unsuccessful in her campaign for the same seat in 2022. Prior to taking elected office she worked for a San Jose City Councilmember. Elaine Alquist
Elaine Kontominas Alquist (August 21, 1944 – July 9, 2024) was a Democratic state senator from California's 13th Senate District. Prior to serving in the Senate, she served in the California State Assembly for six years. The 13th Senate District (2001 Redistricting) was centered in Santa Clara County and included the cities of San Jose, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Mountain View and Gilroy. Alquist served in the State Senate from December 2004 to November 2012. She succeeded John Vasconcellos, who himself succeeded Alquist's husband, the late Al Alquist, who represented the district for 30 years. She died on July 9, 2024, aged 79. Joe Coto (September 4, 1939) is an American educator and politician. Coto served three terms as a member of the California State Assembly from 2004 to 2010, representing the 23rd district. Early life and education Coto was born in Miami, Arizona, one of four children, to Mexican-American parents. His father worked in copper mines for over 30 years, and encouraged Coto and his three sisters to attend college. Coto earned a bachelor's degree from San Diego State University. He received his administrative credential from California State University, East Bay, as well as a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
