The Jersey City Jerseys were a minor league baseball team based in Jersey City, New Jersey that played in the International League for two seasons, 1960 and 1961. They were the AAA affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. The team's home stadium was Roosevelt Stadium. The team began life in Havana, Cuba as the Havana Cubans (and later renamed the Havana Sugar Kings) then moved to Jersey City following the Cuban Revolution. Jersey City Skeeters
The Jersey City Skeeters were a minor league baseball team which operated in Jersey City, New Jersey. The club started in the 1860s and by 1870 joined the National Association of Base Ball Players. By 1885, Jersey City had joined the Eastern League, but they dropped out before the end of the season. The team rejoined the league the following year, finishing in second place. In 1887, a Jersey City Skeeters team was playing in the International League. In 1888, the club would go through several changes. The Skeeters transferred to the newly organized Central League, a much lower league, competition-wise. The club was then purchased by John B. Day, owner of the New York Giants, as a farm team for the Giants and moved to Oakland Park, which Day also purchased, in the Jersey City Heights. Richard Eugene Lysander (born February 21, 1953) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He had a four-season career in the majors, spread out over six years. Career Major League career Lysander was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in , and he toiled in the minors for several years before finally pitching five games for the A's in . He was then returned to the minors, and remained there for the rest of 1980 and all of . Oakland traded him to the Houston Astros after the 1981 season, but Lysander never played in the majors for Houston. The Astros traded him on to the Minnesota Twins for Bob Veselic the following off-season, and in Rick was back in the majors.
