Rataje nad Sázavou () is a market town in Kutná Hora District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 600 inhabitants. The historic town centre is well preserved and is protected as an Cultural monument (Czech Republic)#Monument zones, urban monument zone. The Prague Hussites, Prague Union (Czech: ''Pražský svaz'') or simply "Praguers" (Czech: ''Pražané'') was a faction of Moderate Hussites based in Prague, the capital of the Kingdom of Bohemia. In September 1420, the first year of the Hussite Wars, the Prague Hussites, led by Hynek Krušina of Lichtenburg, besieged Vyšehrad castle, which was held by Czech and German Imperial knights. They established a military camp on a nearby hill and engaged in artillery duels with the Vyšehrad garrison. Imperial troops from nearby Hradčany Castle fired into the Old Town of Prague in support of the besieged Vyšehrad garrison. The Prague Hussites sent out a call for aid, which resulted in thousands of Hussite reinforcements coming from Hradec Králové, Louny, and Žatec. Wenceslaus IV (also ''Wenceslas''; ; , nicknamed "the Idle"; 26 February 136116 August 1419), also known as Wenceslaus of Luxembourg, was King of Bohemia from 1378 until his death and King of Germany from 1376 until he was deposed in 1400. Battle Of Vyšehrad
The Battle of Vyšehrad was a series of engagements at the start of the Hussite War between Hussite forces and Catholic crusaders sent by Emperor Sigismund. The battle took place at the castle of Vyšehrad from 16 August 1419 to c. 1 November 1420. Start of the battle After the death of King Wenceslaus IV of Bohemia, Queen Sophia (with the help of Čeněk of Wartenberg) tried to gain control of Prague. Sophia and Čeněk recruited soldiers from Germany, who took up positions at Vyšehrad, Hradčany, and at the archbishop's palace and the cloister of St. Thomas in a part of Prague called New Town. The Hussite uprising was successful in other parts of Bohemia, and the towns of Klatovy, Písek, Louny, Žatec, and Plzeň came under Hussite control. Hussite Wars
The Hussite Wars, also called the Bohemian Wars or the Hussite Revolution, were a series of civil wars fought between the Hussites and the combined Catholic forces of Sigismund, Holy Roman Emperor, Holy Roman Emperor Sigismund, the Papacy, and European monarchs loyal to the Catholic Church, as well as various Hussite factions. At a late stage of the conflict, the Utraquists changed sides in 1432 to fight alongside Roman Catholics and opposed the Taborites and other Hussite factions. These wars lasted from 1419 to approximately 1434. The unrest began after pre-Protestant Christian reformer Jan Hus was executed by the Catholic Church in 1415 for heresy. Because Sigismund had plans to be crowned the Holy Roman Emperor (requiring papal coronation), he suppressed the religion of the Hussites, yet it continued to spread. Hanuš Of Lipá
Hanuš of Lipá (died 1415) was a Bohemian nobleman and military leader. He was acting lord of Rataje nad Sázavou before the heir Jan Ptáček of Pirkstein came of age, and was appointed Supreme Marshal of the Kingdom of Bohemia shortly before his death. Biography Hanuš was the third son of Henry III of Lipá.
