James Thompson (racing Driver)
Edward James Thompson (born 26 April 1974 in York, England) is a British auto racing driver. He has twice been champion of the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) and the European Touring Car Cup, and was third in the 2007 World Touring Car Championship. Racing career British Touring Car Championship Thompson started racing in the BTCC in a privately entered Peugeot 405 in 1994, his performances earning him a factory Vauxhall Motors, Vauxhall drive for 1995. He became the youngest ever race-winner that year, also taking two pole positions, before his season was cut short by a crash at Knockhill giving him an eye injury. 1996 was a transitional year with the new Vauxhall Vectra, although Thompson took a victory at Snetterton Motor Racing Circuit, Snetterton, moving up from fifth in a two-lap burst in which Roberto Ravaglia and Rickard Rydell collided, Joachim Winkelhock spun, and Alain Menu broke down. 2014 FIA WTCC Race Of Belgium
The 2014 FIA WTCC Race of Belgium was the seventh round of the 2014 World Touring Car Championship season and the fourth running of the FIA WTCC Race of Belgium after an absence of two seasons. 2009 British Touring Car Championship Season
The 2009 HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship season was the 52nd British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) season. It began at Brands Hatch on the Indy layout on 5 April and finished after 30 races over 10 events on the Grand Prix layout at Brands Hatch on 4 October. Colin Turkington won the championship for the first time, ahead of Jason Plato and Fabrizio Giovanardi. The season also saw Motorbase Performance, Airwaves BMW score their first win in the series when Rob Collard won the second race of the day at the opening meeting at Brands Hatch. 2000 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters Season
The 2000 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters was the fourteenth season of premier German touring car championship and also first season under the moniker of Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters since the original series' demise in 1996. Nine events were held with two 40-minute races at each racing weekend. Pre-season This was the resurrected DTM's first season since the cancellation of the Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft at the end of 1996. Mercedes returned to the series after their unfortunate CLR Le Mans project along with H.W.A GmbH and AMG. They were joined by Opel, who brought along the Holzer, Phoenix, Irmscher and Euroteam from the German Super Touring Championship (STW) where they had raced in 1999. 2004 European Touring Car Championship Season
The 2004 FIA European Touring Car Championship season was the last European Touring Car Championship season. For 2005, the European Championship would become the World Touring Car Championship, and a one-off European Touring Car Cup would be held. The season began at Monza on 28 March, and finished at Dubai after twenty races over ten meetings. The Drivers' Championship title was won by Andy Priaulx for BMW Team Great Britain, who tied on points with BMW Team Deutschland's Dirk Müller, although Priaulx earned the title due to his greater number of victories during the season. 2001 European Super Touring Championship Season
The 2001 FIA European Super Touring Championship was the 28th season of European touring car racing and the first European Touring Car Championship since 1988. The championship started at Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Monza on 1 April and ended after ten events at Estoril on 21 October. The championship was won by Fabrizio Giovanardi, who drove for Alfa Romeo Team Nordauto in an Alfa Romeo 156. 2009 V8 Supercar Championship Series
The 2009 V8 Supercar Championship Series was the eleventh V8 Supercar Championship Series and the thirteenth series in which V8 Supercars have contested the premier Australian touring car title. It began on 19 March at the Clipsal 500 on the streets of Adelaide and ended on 6 December at the Homebush Street Circuit and consisted of 26 races over 14 events which were held in all states and the Northern Territory of Australia as well as New Zealand.
