James Madison Dukes Men's Soccer
The James Madison Dukes men's soccer team is an intercollegiate varsity sports team of James Madison University. As of the 2022 season, the Dukes are members of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Sun Belt Conference. They began play in 1968. The Dukes play their home games at Sentara Park. During the 2011 Colonial Athletic Association men's soccer season, the Dukes won the regular season. Hal Partenheimer
Hal Partenheimer (born May 12, 1956) is a retired American soccer midfielder who spent one season in the North American Soccer League and two in the Major Indoor Soccer League. The son of Stan Partenheimer, and grandson of Steve Partenheimer, Hal Partenheimer graduated from Sewickley Academy in 1974. He is a member of the Sewickley Athletic Hall of Fame. Partenheimer attended James Madison University where he played on the men's soccer team. In 1979, he signed with the Detroit Express of the North American Soccer League, but saw no first team time during the outdoor season. He played three games during the 1979-1980 indoor season before being sent to the Pittsburgh Spirit for cash. He finished the season with the Spirit, then spent a year not playing soccer after the Spirit went into hiatus. Western Mass Pioneers
Western Mass Pioneers is an American soccer team based in Ludlow, Massachusetts, United States. Founded in 1998, the team plays in USL League Two, the fourth tier of the American soccer pyramid. The team plays its home games at Lusitano Stadium, where they have played since 1998. The team's colors are red, black and white. History In August 1997, the USISL announced it had awarded an expansion franchise to Gremio Lusitano, an amateur soccer club based in Ludlow, Massachusetts. The USISL had set a condition for new teams which prohibited ethnic team names which prevented the club from using the name Gremio or Lusitano. Kevin Trapp (soccer)
Kevin Trapp (born June 27, 1984, in Minnesota) is a former American soccer player. Career Youth and College Trapp grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, and played college soccer at James Madison University, where he was a four-year starter. He currently holds the school's freshmen shutout record with 8 shutouts, and is ranked second all-time at JMU in shutouts for career with 26. Trapp was consistently ranked in leaders among the CAA Conference and within the Top 10 for the NCAA in GAA and saves all 4 years as a starter at James Madison University. Trapp's efforts in goal helped aid in JMU's Top 25 national ranking during the 2003–2006 seasons, with Top 10 national rankings in both the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Atlanta Chiefs
The Atlanta Chiefs were an American professional soccer team based in Atlanta, Georgia. The team competed in the National Professional Soccer League (1967), National Professional Soccer League (NPSL) in 1967 and the North American Soccer League (1968–1984), North American Soccer League (NASL) from 1968 to 1973 and again from 1979 to 1981. For the 1973 season, the team played as the Atlanta Apollos. Founded in 1967 as a charter member of the NPSL, the club was the brainchild of Dick Cecil, then Vice President of the Atlanta Braves baseball franchise who was the Chiefs' owner. Carl Strong
Carl Strong (born January 21, 1958, in Annandale, Virginia) is a former U.S. soccer midfielder who spent seven seasons in the North American Soccer League. Strong grew up in Virginia where attended Annandale High School. After graduating from Annandale in 1976, he entered James Madison University. He was the 1978 Virginia Intercollegiate Player of the Year. Strong began his professional career in 1978 with the expansion Colorado Caribous of the North American Soccer League (NASL). The Caribous moved to Atlanta where the team was renamed the Atlanta Chiefs between the 1978 and 1979 season. Strong became a regular with the Chiefs, seeing time in twenty-five games in 1979, twenty-eight in 1980 and thirty-two in 1981. Joel Senior (born 7 December 1987) is a Jamaican former professional footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. Club career College and amateur Senior moved from his native Jamaica to the Washington D.C. area as a child. He attended Archbishop Carroll High School, where he was the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference Player of the Year as a junior and senior and the Gatorade Player of the Year for Washington, D.C., as a senior.
