James Dennis, 1st Baron Tracton
James Dennis, 1st Baron Tracton PC (1721–15 June 1782) was an Irish politician and judge. Background Dennis was the son of John Dennis, a timber merchant of Kinsale, County Cork, and Anne Bullen, daughter of William Bullen (d.1735), of Southwater and Bullen's Cove; Burgess of Kinsale. Political and judicial career Dennis was educated at Trinity College, Dublin and became a barrister. He was the legal advisor to Henry Boyle, 1st Earl of Shannon, who also became a close personal friend. He later sat as a member of the Irish House of Commons for Rathcormack between 1761 and 1768 and for Youghal between 1768 and 1777: his speeches in the House are said to have displayed his profound learning. He also served as Serjeant-at-law (Ireland) and as Lord Chief Baron of the Exchequer in Ireland. He was sworn of the Irish Privy Council in 1777 and, at Lord Shannon's urging, was raised to the Peerage of Ireland as Baron Tracton, of Tracton Abbey in the County of Cork, on 4 January 1781. ...

James O. Dennis (born 25 February 1976) is an American discus thrower. His personal best throw is 63.55 metres, achieved in June 2008 in Chula Vista, California. Dennis was a two-time All-American for the Louisville Cardinals track and field team, placing 4th at the 1997 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships. James Blatch Piggott Dennis
James Blatch Piggott Dennis (1815–1861) was an English paleontologist and natural historian. Biography James Dennis was born on 4 August 1815 and educated at Bedford School and The Queen's College, Oxford. He was ordained in 1839. Dennis is best known for his microscopic research into the internal structure of bone, of which he provided an account in papers published in the '' Journal of Microscopical Science''. He is credited with having established two important geological facts: the existence of mammals prior to the lias deposit, and the existence of birds during, or prior to, the deposit of the Stonesfield slate. A mammal jawbone which Dennis discovered in the Stonesfield slate was the subject of a paper read to the Geological Society. In 1860, Dennis read a paper to the British Association "On the Mode of Flight of the Sterodactyles of the Coprolite bed near Cambridge".
