James R. Brewster is an American politician who served as a member of the Pennsylvania Senate for the 45th District from 2010 to 2024. Education Brewster earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from the California University of Pennsylvania. Career Brewster is a former vice president for fraud management with Mellon Bank and mayor of McKeesport, Pennsylvania. On November 2, 2010, Brewster won a special election to fill the remaining term of Senator Sean F. Logan, who had resigned his seat on August 24, 2010, to take a position at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Brewster was sworn into the Pennsylvania Senate on November 17, 2010. In July 2020, Brewster organized a meeting with bar and restaurant owners and signed a letter to Governor Tom Wolf urging him to lessen the restrictions on them imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic. James David Brewster Jr. (January 9, 1902 – August 20, 1998) was an American gridiron football player. Biography Brewster was born in Newnan, Georgia, in 1902. His father was the sheriff of Coweta County, and his mother, Margaret, was a homemaker. He graduated from Newnan High School, then attended the Georgia School of Technology (Georgia Tech). Brewster played college football during 1919–1923 for the Georgia Tech football team. His fancy footwork earned him the nickname "the Side-Stepping Wonder." He was selected to the 1922 College Football All-Southern Team by Billy Evans. A member of Alpha Tau Omega, he graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in textile engineering. Brewster went on to play professionally in the 1926 American Football League for the Newark Bears, along with several other former Georgia Tech players including Vaughan Connelly, Ike Williams, and Doug Wycoff. Milt Gabler
Milton Gabler (May 20, 1911 – July 20, 2001) was an American record producer, responsible for many innovations in the recording industry of the 20th century. These included being the first person to deal in record reissues, the first to sell records by mail order, and the first to credit all the musicians on the recordings. He was also a successful songwriter, writing the lyrics for a number of standards, including " In a Mellow Tone," " Danke Schoen," and " L-O-V-E." Early life Gabler was born to a Jewish family in Harlem, New York, the son of Susie (née Kasindorf) and Julius Gabler. His father was an Austrian Jewish immigrant from Vienna, and his mother's family were Jewish immigrants from Russia, including Rostov. At 15, he began working in his father's business, a hardware store located on East 42nd Street in New York City.
