"The Chaser" is episode 31 of the American television anthology series ''The Twilight Zone''. Opening narration Plot Roger Shackleforth is desperately in love with Leila, an aloof woman who dismisses his affections. A stranger hands him the business card of an old professor named "A. Daemon", who can help with any problem. Roger visits Daemon, who after some resistance and suggestions that Roger will regret it, sells him a love potion for $1. Roger administers it in a glass of champagne; Leila falls madly in love with him and marries him, but soon her love becomes stifling. Roger returns to the professor to buy poison for $1,000, all of Roger's savings. Daemon cautions Roger that the "glove cleaner" is odorless, tasteless, and completely undetectable, but must be used immediately and completely, or the user will lose his nerve and never again have the courage to try it. ''Repoussé'' () or ''repoussage'' () is a metalworking technique in which a malleable metal is shaped by hammering from the reverse side to create a design in low relief. Chasing (French: '' ciselure'') or embossing is a similar technique in which the piece is hammered on the front side, sinking the metal. The two techniques are often used in conjunction. Many metals can be used for chasing and repoussé work, including gold, silver, copper, and alloys such as steel, bronze, and pewter. HMS ''Chaser'' (D32/R306/A727) was an American-built that served with the Royal Navy during the Second World War. Acquired by the United States Navy for conversion to a ; she was transferred to the Royal Navy and commissioned as ''Chaser'' on 9 April 1943, under the Lend-Lease agreement. She spent most of her career escorting convoys in Arctic, she transferred to the British Pacific Fleet in March 1945. Chase Gun
A chase gun (or chaser), usually distinguished as bow chaser and stern chaser, was a cannon mounted in the bow (aiming forward) or stern (aiming backward) of a sailing ship. They were used to attempt to slow down an enemy ship either chasing (pursuing) or being chased, when the ship's broadside could not be brought to bear. Typically, the chasers were used to attempt to damage the rigging and thereby cause the target to lose performance. Bow chasers could be regular guns brought up from the gundeck and aimed through specially cut-out ports on either side of the bowsprit, or dedicated weapons made with an unusually long bore and a relatively light ball, and mounted in the bow. ''The Chaser'' is a quarterly (originally fortnightly) satirical newspaper, published in Australia from 1999 to 2005. The Chaser are an Australian satirical comedy group, best known for their television programmes and satirical news masthead. The group take their name from their satirical newspaper, a publication known to challenge conventions of taste. The group's motto is "Striving for Mediocrity in a World of Excellence". Founding The Chaser's earliest foundation was a satirical school paper called ''The Tiger'', created by future members Charles Firth, Dominic Knight and Chas Licciardello as a way to "wring as much money as heycould out of their expensive private school" while attending Sydney Grammar. The three then met Julian Morrow, Craig Reucassel and Andrew Hansen at the University of Sydney while working on the university newspaper '' Honi Soit''.
