Jonathan J. "Jack" O'Neill is a fictional character in the MGM's military science fiction franchise ''Stargate'', primarily as one of the main characters of the television series ''Stargate SG-1''. Richard Dean Anderson played O'Neill in all the ''Stargate'' media since 1997, when he took over the role from actor Kurt Russell, who portrayed the character in the original ''Stargate'' film in 1994. O'Neill and Daniel Jackson are the only two characters to appear in both the original film and all three live-action ''Stargate'' television series. In his first appearance in the 1994 film as Colonel Jack O'Neill, the character leads the first team to go through the Stargate on a reconnaissance mission. He subsequently becomes the main character of the television series ''Stargate SG-1'' created in 1997 as a sequel to the movie. Jack O'Neill (baseball)
John Joseph O'Neill (10 January 1873 – 29 June 1935) was a catcher in Major League Baseball who played for the St. Louis Cardinals (1902–03), Chicago Cubs (1904–05) and Boston Beaneaters (1906). He batted and threw right-handed. He was born in the townland of Tawnaleen, near Maum, in County Galway, Ireland, to Michael O'Neill, a small farmer in Maum, and Mary Joyce. O'Neill was one of four major league brothers. Steve was a catcher and manager, Jim a shortstop, and Mike, who also was born in Ireland, was a pitcher and formed a brother battery with Jack for the St. Louis Cardinals. O'Neill shared catching duties for the Cardinals, Cubs and Beaneaters in a modest span of five years. He was a smart runner with some speed and usually was used in pinch-running situations. Jack O'Neill (March 27, 1923 – June 2, 2017) was an American businessman and founder of the surfwear and surfboard company O'Neill (brand), O'Neill. Early life O'Neill grew up in Oregon and Southern California, where he began body surfing in the late 1930s. He was a Navy pilot during World War II. O'Neill later moved to San Francisco in 1949 and earned a bachelor's degree in liberal arts at San Francisco State University. Career In 1952, he founded the O'Neill (brand), O'Neill brand while opening one of California's first surfing, surf shops in a garage on the Great Highway in San Francisco, close to his favorite bodysurfing break at the time. John Patrick O'Neill (1910 – 11 October 1998) was an Australian public servant, who served as Australia's Commonwealth Statistician (head of the Bureau of Statistics) from 1970 to 1975, and Australian Statistician from 1975 to 1976. O'Neill was born in Wynyard, Tasmania where he attended primary school, later boarding at St Virgil's College in Hobart. In 1927, he began working at the Hobart office of the Commonwealth Bureau of Census and Statistics, and began studying for a Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Tasmania which he discontinued due to illness. Jackopierce is an American alternative rock band formed by Jack O'Neill and Cary Pierce in Dallas, Texas in 1988. Their style is focused around vocal harmonies and acoustic guitars. History Jack O'Neill and Cary Pierce founded the duo in 1988 while both were attending Southern Methodist University in Dallas as theater majors. The name of the band was made up from O'Neill's first name and Pierce's last name. Over the next ten years Jackopierce toured extensively, mainly in the USA but also other countries.
