JAKIM
Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (, Jawi alphabet, Jawi: ) or popularly known as JAKIM (), is a federal government agency in Malaysia that administers Islam in Malaysia, Islamic affairs in Malaysia. History In 1969, Malaysia's Conference of Rulers decided that there was a need for a body to mobilise the development and progress of Muslims in Malaysia, in line with the status of Malaysia as a growing Islamic country and gaining international attention. Realising this fact, a secretariat to the National Council of Islamic Religious Affairs Malaysia (MKI) was established, to preserve the purity of Islamic beliefs and teachings. The secretariat was later developed as the Religious Division, the Prime Minister's Department which was then re-promoted to the Islamic Affairs Division (Malay: ''Bahagian Hal Ehwal Islam'') (BAHEIS). The Islamic Complex Putrajaya () is an administrative building complex for Malaysian government agencies located in the federal administrative center, Federal Territory of Putrajaya. Putrajaya Islamic Complex is located in Precinct 3, Putrajaya next to Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque and is motivated by modern Islamic architecture. Abdul Hamid bin Ngah @ Zainal Abidin ( Jawi: عبدالحميد بن ڠه @ زين العابدين; February 20, 1944 – December 30, 2014) is the former chairman of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) from 16 July 2004 to 2009. He was a member of Parit Buntar Parliament and became Minister in the Prime Minister's Department. He and Zakir Abdul Karim Naik from India was elected as Tokoh Maal Hijrah 1435/2013M. The award was presented on 5 November 2013 in Putrajaya. The award was given by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at the Plenary Hall, Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), Putrajaya. The Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque (; Jawi: ) or the Iron Mosque () is the second principal mosque in Putrajaya, Malaysia after Putra Mosque. It is located in Putrajaya's Precinct 3, opposite the Palace of Justice and next to Islamic Complex Putrajaya, a religious authority headquarters.
