Issuu, Inc. (pronounced "issue") is a Danish-founded American electronic publishing platform based in Palo Alto, California, United States. The company's software converts PDFs into customizable digital publications that can be shared via links or embedded into websites. Founded in 2006, the company moved its headquarters from Denmark to the United States in 2013. History Issuu was founded in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2006 by Michael and Rubyn Bjerg Hansen, Mikkel Jensen, and Martin Ferro-Thomsen. In 2009, Apple rejected Issuu's app three times, because it was seen as too similar to Apple's planned Newsstand service. In August 2009, the company's website was named one of ''Time (magazine), Times 50 Best Websites. By 2011, Issuu software was used by several online publications. In early 2013, the company opened an office in Palo Alto, California and appointed CEO Joe Hyrkin, formerly of Reverb, Trinity Ventures, and Yahoo!, to helm its Silicon Valley operations. Bending Spoons S.p.A. is an Italian technology company, founded in 2013 and based in Milan. The company is known primarily for mobile applications that it develops or acquires. Immuni On 17 April 2020, the Government of Italy, Italian government released a statement on its website announcing that Bending Spoons had been selected to design and develop Italy's official COVID-19 apps, COVID-19 contact tracing app, Immuni. The app was released on 1 June 2020. It was initially released in four Regions of Italy, regions, then countrywide. The app did not receive significant adoption and successfully tracked less than 1% of the total confirmed positive cases reported during the period it was active. The most commonly cited reasons for not using the app were the lack of perceived effectiveness and major technical issues. Immuni was decommissioned on December 31, 2022.
