Innichen station (Italian: ''stazione di San Candido'') is a railway station located in Innichen (San Candido), Italy where the Puster Valley Railway and the Drava Valley Railway meet in eastern South Tyrol. It is the border station between Italy and Austria. Location The station is located to the east of the Toblach saddle in the Hochpustertal (High Puster Valley) at an altitude of 1176 m. It is located on the western outskirts of Innichen adjacent to Strada Statale 49 della Pusteria, national highway 49. It is about 7 km west of the border with Austria. History The station was opened in 1871 together with the Puster Valley Railway and the Drava Valley Railway, which were operated by the Austrian Southern Railway Company, Southern Railway Company (''Südbahngesellschaft''). Lienz District
The Bezirk Lienz ( it, Distretto di Lienz) is an administrative district (''Bezirk'') in Tyrol, Austria. It is the only district in East Tyrol. The district borders the Pinzgau (Salzburg) in the north, the districts Spittal an der Drau and Hermagor (both Carinthia) in the east, Veneto (Italy) in the south, and South Tyrol (Italy) in the west. Conglomerate () is a clastic sedimentary rock that is composed of a substantial fraction of rounded to subangular gravel-size clasts. A conglomerate typically contains a matrix of finer-grained sediments, such as sand, silt, or clay, which fills the interstices between the clasts.
