Linkmenys
Linkmenys () is a village located in Ignalina District Municipality in Utena County, in eastern Lithuania. According to the 2011 census, the village had a population of 134 inhabitants. History In Hermann von Wartberge's ''Chronicon Livoniale'' it is referred to as Linkmenys Castle, which probably stood on . Around 1500, the local church has been erected. Sigismund II Augustus had a manor and a town which belonged to the manor in Linkmenys. In 1922, 2 years after Polish–Lithuanian War, the Polish soldiers in Lithuanian school of Linkmenys butted the Vytis as "foreign state sign". During the interwar period, the village was split by the Polish-Lithuanian demarcation line, however the bigger part of the village was part of Poland. Ceikiniai () is a village in the Ignalina district municipality, Utena county, Lithuania. It is 12 kilometres southeast from Ignalina. Didžiasalis is a town in Ignalina district municipality, in Utena County, North Eastern Lithuania. According to the 2011 census, the town has a population of 1299 people. The town is near the border with Belarus. Due to fall of Soviet Union town lost its main industry and suffered significant population loss of 60%. Many soviet built apartments were left empty. Ignalina Town
Ignalina (; ) is a city in eastern Lithuania. It is known as a tourist destination in the Aukštaitija National Park. Ignalina is also famous for the now decommissioned Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant in nearby Visaginas. Legend It is said that Ignalina got its name from two lovers Lina, daughter of duke Budrys, and Ignas, captive of the crusaders, whom people cursed and drowned in Ilgis Lake. Tverečius () is a town in Ignalina district municipality, in Utena County, eastern Lithuania. According to the 2011 census, the town has a population of 231 people. History Grand Duchy of Lithuania Tverečius was first time mentioned on 21 July 1501. In same year at 24 July order of Augustinians settled in town.
