Idaho–Idaho State Football Rivalry
The Idaho–Idaho State rivalry, recently branded as the Battle of the Domes, is the intrastate college football game in Idaho between the University of Idaho in Moscow and Idaho State University in Pocatello. The series was played annually for 31 seasons from 1965 through 1995, until Idaho's move to the Football Bowl Subdivision (with Boise State), leaving Idaho State without an intrastate rival. Annual play has resumed since Idaho's move back to the Football Championship Subdivision in 2018. The rivalry was at its most competitive in the 1970s and 1980s, with neither team three-peating; Idaho has won thirteen of the last sixteen and leads the overall series at Since Idaho's return to the FCS, the Vandals lead the trophy series at 3–2. Idaho Vandals Football
The Idaho Vandals are the college football team that represents the University of Idaho and plays its home games at the Kibbie Dome, an indoor facility on campus in Moscow, Idaho. Idaho is a member of the Big Sky Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The new head coach in 2022 is Jason Eck, who succeeded Paul Petrino (2013– 2021). The Idaho football program began in 1893, and through the 2019 season, the Vandals have an all-time record of They have played in three bowl games in their history, all victories in the Humanitarian/Famous Idaho Potato Bowl in Boise in 1998, 2009 and 2016.
