Italy Women's National Field Hockey Team
The Italy women's national field hockey team represents Italy in international field hockey competitions. The team is currently ranked 17th in the FIH World Rankings, with 623 points. History Field hockey was first introduced in Italy in 1935, and has since grown in popularity within the country. In July 2017, at the 2016–17 Hockey World League Semifinals in Brussels, Belgium, the Italian women's team secured qualification for the 2018 Hockey World Cup. This is the first major international tournament Italy have qualified for since the 1976 Hockey World Cup, where the team finished 10th. The European Hockey Federation is a European sports federation for field hockey, based in Brussels. It is the umbrella organisation for all European national federations, and organises the Euro Hockey League. Marijke Fleuren was elected president on 22 August 2011. In reaction to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the European Hockey Federation banned the participation of all Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials from all events sanctioned by the Federation. West Berlin
West Berlin (german: Berlin (West) or , ) was a political enclave which comprised the western part of Berlin during the years of the Cold War. Although West Berlin was de jure not part of West Germany, lacked any sovereignty, and was under military occupation until German reunification in 1990, the territory was claimed by the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) which was heavily disputed by the Soviet Union and other Eastern Bloc countries. 2014–15 Women's FIH Hockey World League
The 2014–15 Women's FIH Hockey World League was the second edition of women's field hockey national team league series. The tournament started in June 2014 in Singapore and finished in December 2015 in Rosario, Argentina. The Semifinals of this competition also served as a qualifier for the 2016 Summer Olympics as 7 highest placed teams apart from the five continental champions qualified. Argentina won the tournament's Final round for the first time after defeating New Zealand 5–1 in the final. Germany won the third place match by defeating China 6–2. A total of 16 teams competing in 2 events were part in this round of the tournament playing for 7 berths in the Final, played from 30 November to 8 December 2013 in San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina. Valencia

The 2012–13 Women's FIH Hockey World League Round 2 was held from February to March 2013. A total of 22 teams competed in 4 events were part in this round of the tournament playing for 8 berths in the Semifinals, played in June 2013. Qualification 8 teams ranked between 9th and 16th in the FIH World Rankings current at the time of seeking entries for the competition qualified automatically. As Canada and Ukraine withdrew from participating, only 13 teams qualified from Round 1. Additionally one nation that did not meet ranking criteria and was exempt from Round 1 hosted a Round 2 tournament. Women's FIH Hockey World League
The Women's FIH Hockey World League was an international women's field hockey competition organised by the International Hockey Federation. The league also served as a qualifier for the 2014 and 2018 Women's Hockey World Cups and the 2016 Olympic Games. Three seasons were held in 2012–13, 2014–15 and 2016–17. It was replaced by the new Women's FIH Pro League and Hockey Series in 2018-19. Format The tournament featured four rounds. For each edition the FIH decided the number of events and teams for each round. The number of Round 1 events varied in each cycle depending on the number of participating national teams.
