It's About Time (Morris Day Album)
''It's About Time'' is the fourth solo album by R&B singer Morris Day. Released 12 years after his previous album ''Guaranteed (Morris Day album), Guaranteed'', ''It's About Time'' is somewhat a return to form for Day. With the exception of four new songs, the album consists of previous hits, recorded live with the modern line-up of The Time (band), The Time. The live material was poorly edited to remove curse words and to fade abruptly between songs, removing most of the audience reactions. The patchiness of the album was not received well. Morris Day
Morris E. Day (born December 13, 1957) is an American musician and songwriter. He is best known as the lead singer of The Time. Music career Morris Day is best known as the lead singer of The Time, a group associated with Prince. Day and Prince attended the same high school in Minneapolis and in 1974, as teenagers, became bandmates in the band Grand Central. The band was managed by Morris' mother. Morris announced in 2022 that he would be releasing his final solo album ''Last Call'' and retiring after his 2023–2024 tour. Ice Cream Castles
"Ice Cream Castles" is the opening track from the Time's third album, '' Ice Cream Castle''. The song was composed by Prince and Morris Day, with Prince writing the lyrics after recording the instrumental tracks. Day provided drums and lead vocals, while Jesse Johnson played electric guitars on the recording. Prince played all the other instruments. "Ice Cream Castles" is about an interracial relationship. The song's title is based on a lyric from Joni Mitchell. The song reached number 11 on the R&B charts, but it did not enter the pop charts. Garry George "Jellybean" Johnson (born November 19, 1956) is an American drummer, guitarist, songwriter, record producer and musician based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Early life, family and education As a youth, Johnson relocated from Chicago to Minneapolis. He received drum lessons at age 13 and two years later began teaching himself guitar. He attended Marshall-University High School, where he played on its basketball team, then attended the University of Minnesota.
