Irish Cricket Team In Kenya In 2011–12
The Ireland cricket team toured Kenya in February 2012. They played an Intercontinental Cup match, two Intercontinental Cup ODIs and two Twenty20 Internationals against Kenya. Background In early January 2012, it was reported at Ireland's tour to Kenya was in doubt due to security concerns at their Mombasa venue. These concerns arose with Mombasa being just 150 miles from the volatile Somali border, where recent high-profile kidnappings and attacks have taken place. Cricket Ireland, liaising with the International Cricket Council, requested that the matches held at Mombasa be moved if their players security could not be guaranteed. However Cricket Kenya drew up sufficient security plans to allow the matches to take place at Mombasa. Collins Obuya
Collins Omondi Obuya (born 27 July 1981) is a former Kenyan cricketer and captain of the Kenyan cricket team. An allrounder, Obuya bats right-handed and bowls leg spin. He came to prominence in the 2003 Cricket World Cup where he was one of Kenya's major performers as they reached the semi-finals. Obuya has a highest first class score of 103. He has been a prominent member of the Kenya cricket team with a career spanning more than two decades, since making his international debut in 2001. On 24 March 2024 he announced his retirement from international cricket. His final game was the bronze medal match at the African Games in Accra, Ghana. His brothers Kennedy Otieno and David Obuya were also professional cricketers who also went on to represent Kenya at the international level. David Obuya
David Oluoch Obuya (born 14 August 1979) is a Kenyan former cricketer who played 74 One Day Internationals between 2001 and 2012. He was a right-handed batsman and wicket-keeper. International career Obuya first played cricket internationally when selected for the 1998 Under-19 Cricket World Cup where he made five apperarances. His one-day career was to follow three years later. He first represented the senior team on a tour of the West Indies in 2001, where he played as an opener, alongside Ravindu Shah. Alex Obanda
Alex Auma Obanda (born 25 December 1987) is a Kenyan cricketer who has played first-class cricket for Kenya Select. Domestic career When the side participated in the Logan Cup in 2007, Obanda made his first class debut and had a good series, making 296 runs at an average of 37 runs per innings. A right-handed batsman, Obanda scored a century in their draw against Centrals at Kwekwe. Nehemiah Odhiambo Ngoche (born 7 August 1984) is a Kenyan cricketer. He plays both One Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals for Kenya. Rakep Patel (born 12 July 1989) is a Kenyan international cricketer. A product of the Nairobi Gymkhana Club, he is a wicket-keeper–batsman who plays right-handed, and occasionally bowls off spin. Maurice Amollo Ouma (first name also spelt Morris) (born 8 November 1982) is a Kenyan cricketer and a former limited over captain. He is a right-handed batsman and also plays as a wicket-keeper. He has played for the Kenyan cricket team since 2000.
