Tom Determann
Tom Determann (born 1950) is an American politician and retired businessman who has represented the 69th district in the Iowa House of Representatives since January 2023, which consists of parts of eastern Clinton County, including most of Clinton and Camanche. He is a member of the Republican Party. Early life Determann was born in 1950 in Clinton, Iowa, and was raised in Clinton and Camanche, Iowa. He attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering and served in the United States Army for a time. Political career Determann served several years on the Clinton County Board of Supervisors, being elected in 2016 and resigning upon his election to the House in 2022, and at one point was its chairman. He also served on the Clinton City Council, and was briefly mayor pro tempore of Clinton. Iowa General Assembly
The Iowa General Assembly is the legislative branch of the state government of Iowa. Like the federal United States Congress, the General Assembly is a bicameral body, composed of the upper house Iowa Senate and the lower Iowa House of Representatives respectively. The Senate consists of four year terms and the House consists of two year terms. The General Assembly convenes within the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines since the capital was moved there in 1857. The assembly convenes annually on the second Monday in January. Composition The Iowa General Assembly consists of 50 senators and 100 representatives. Each senator represents about 63,848 people and each representative about 31,924 people as of the 2020 United States census. Clinton County is a county located in the U.S. state of Iowa. As of the 2020 United States census, the population was 46,460. Its county seat is Clinton. Its name is in honor of the seventh Governor of New York State, DeWitt Clinton. Clinton County comprises the Clinton, Iowa Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Davenport–Moline–Clinton, Muscatine, Iowa–Illinois Combined Statistical Area. History Clinton County was formed on December 21, 1837. It was named for DeWitt Clinton, a Governor of New York and most ardent advocate for the construction of the Erie Canal. John Connors (American Politician)
John H. Connors (December 2, 1922 – March 7, 2009) was an American politician in the state of Iowa. Connors was born in Des Moines, Iowa. He attended high school there, and then the Harvard University Trade Union Program. He served in World War II with the United States Navy Reserve. He was a firefighter in the Des Moines Fire Department. In 1945 he married Marjorie Leonard. He has four children.
