Thomas Michael Jeneary (born March 31, 1952) is a retired dentist and American politician in the state of Iowa. He was elected to the Iowa House of Representatives in 2018 and his term ended on January 8, 2023. Iowa General Assembly
The Iowa General Assembly is the legislative branch of the state government of Iowa. Like the federal United States Congress, the General Assembly is a bicameral body, composed of the upper house Iowa Senate and the lower Iowa House of Representatives respectively. The Senate consists of four year terms and the House consists of two year terms. The General Assembly convenes within the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines since the capital was moved there in 1857. The assembly convenes annually on the second Monday in January. Composition The Iowa General Assembly consists of 50 senators and 100 representatives. Each senator represents about 63,848 people and each representative about 31,924 people as of the 2020 United States census. Sioux County, Iowa
Sioux County is a county located in the U.S. state of Iowa. As of the 2020 census, the population was 35,872. Its county seat is Orange City. Its largest city is Sioux Center. History Sioux County was formed on January 15, 1851. It has been self-governed since January 20, 1860. It was named after the Sioux tribe. The first county seat was Calliope in 1860, then a small village with 15 inhabitants, and later part of Hawarden. The first courthouse was built in 1860 and served as such until 1872. A larger immigration wave began in 1869, primarily of Dutch. In 1872, Orange City was declared the seat. In June 1902, the construction began on a new Sioux County courthouse designed by W.W. Beach. Of red sandstone, it was completed in 1904, and still serves as the courthouse. Plymouth County is a county located in the U.S. state of Iowa. As of the 2020 census, the population was 25,698. The county seat is Le Mars. Plymouth County was named after Plymouth, Massachusetts. Plymouth County is part of the Sioux City, IA- NE- SD Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Plymouth County was formed on January 15, 1851. Settlement began in the county in 1856. In October 1859, the first courthouse was built in Melbourne, formerly located in the southeast quarter of section 34, Plymouth Township, about five to six miles due south of Merrill. The first public school opened its doors there with 32 pupils. In 1872 the county seat was moved to Le Mars and a courthouse and jail were built there in 1873. Leo P is a small, star-forming irregular galaxy located in the constellation Leo, discovered through the blind HI Arecibo Legacy Fast ALFA (ALFALFA) survey, as an ultra-compact high-velocity cloud (UCHVC) of hydrogen gas. Its confirmation as a dwarf galaxy in 2013 suggests that other such UCHVCs are possibly undiscovered dwarf galaxies themselves. Leo P is noteworthy for harbouring one of the most metal-poor environments in the local universe. Don Shoning
Donald W. Shoning (8 July 1915 – 11 February 1999) was an American politician. Shoning was born in Battle Creek, Iowa, on 8 July 1915, to parents Harvey and Marie Shoning. He attended Danbury High School in Danbury, Iowa. Shoning met and married Danbury native Grace Richards, with whom he had two daughters. Shoning later attended business schools in Scranton, Pennsylvania and Oak Park, Illinois, and also served in the United States Army during World War II. After the war, Shoning was employed by the Westinghouse Electric Corporation. Shoning was a member of the Republican Party who served on the Sioux City Council from 1966 to 1969. During his tenure as a city councilor, he was endorsed by the Woodbury County Labor Council. Shoning was active in discussions on municipal construction projects. Christopher C. Rants (born September 16, 1967) is a former Iowa State Representative. He served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 1992 to 2010. He received his BA from Morningside College.
