Iowa's 42nd Senate District
The 42nd District of the Iowa Senate is located in eastern Iowa, and is currently composed of part of Benton County, Iowa, Benton and Linn County, Iowa, Linn counties. Joe Mitchell (politician)
Joe Mitchell (born April 23, 1997) is an American politician from the state of Iowa. He was elected to the Iowa House of Representatives in 2018. Sworn in at the age of 21, he was the youngest member to ever be elected to the Iowa House. Shawn Hamerlinck
Shawn Hamerlinck (born 1980) served one term in the Iowa State Senate, representing the 42nd District. He lost re-election in 2012. Hamerlinck was named in a sexual harassment lawsuit, which claimed that Hamerlinck often commented about women's breasts He sits on these committees: Economic Growth, Education, Local Government, Rebuild Iowa (Ranking Member), Ways and Means, Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Infrastructure, and Capitals, and the Appropriations Subcommittee. Frank Wood (Iowa Politician)
Frank B. Wood (born 1951) is an American politician and educator from Eldridge, Iowa, who served as a state legislator in the Iowa Senate from 2005 to 2009, and the Iowa House of Representatives from 2014 to 2015. Mike Gronstal
Michael E. Gronstal (born January 29, 1950) is a former Iowa State Senator who represented the 8th district in the Iowa Senate. He served from 1985 to 2017 and was the majority leader and chairman of the Rules and Administration committee. He was also chairman of the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC), the national organization to elect Democratic state legislators. Personal life and education Gronstal was born on January 29, 1950. He received his B.A. from Antioch College. Elaine Eisfelder Szymoniak (May 24, 1920 – May 20, 2009) was a State Senator from the U.S. state of Iowa, a former City Council Member representing the city of Des Moines, Iowa and a retired hearing and speech specialist, counselor, and administrator for the Iowa Department of Vocational Rehabilitation. Mariannette Jane Miller-Meeks (born September 6, 1955) is an American physician and politician who has served as a U.S. representative from Iowa since 2021. A member of the Republican Party, she represents the state's 1st congressional district. Her district, numbered as the 2nd district in her first term, includes most of Iowa's southeastern quadrant, including Davenport, Bettendorf, Burlington, and Iowa City. Miller-Meeks previously served as the Iowa state senator from the 41st district from 2019 to 2021. Miller-Meeks ran three unsuccessful campaigns for the U.S. House against Dave Loebsack.
