Annette Sweeney
Annette Sweeney (born December 9, 1957) is an American politician who is the Iowa State Senator for the 27th District. A Republican, she has been in the Iowa Senate since 2018, when she won a special election to replace Bill Dix after Dix resigned from the Senate. Prior to her election to the Senate, Sweeney was a member of the Iowa House of Representatives from 2009 to 2013. Sweeney was born in Buckeye, Iowa. Ross Wilburn
Ross Wilburn (1964/1965) is an American politician and social worker serving as a member of the Iowa House of Representatives from the 50th district. Elected in November 2018, he assumed office in January 2019. Wilburn has also served as chair of the Iowa Democratic Party from January 2021 until 2023. Early life and education Wilburn was born in Galesburg, Illinois and raised in Ames, Iowa. After graduating from high school, Wilburn joined the Iowa Army National Guard. He earned a Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work from the University of Iowa. Daryl Beall
Daryl Beall (born December 11, 1946) is an American politician. He was the Iowa State Senator from the 5th District. A Democrat, he served in the Iowa Senate from 2003 to 2015, in Iowa Senate district 25 before Iowa's 2012 redistricting. He received his A.A. from Iowa Central Community College, his B.A. from Buena Vista University, and his MPA from Drake University. Beall served on several committees in the Iowa Senate - the Economic Growth committee; the Education committee; the Local Government committee, where he is vice chair; the Transportation committee, where he is vice chair; and the Veterans Affairs committee, where he is chair. Robert E. Dvorsky (born August 18, 1948) is a former Iowa State Senator from the 37th District (previously numbered the 15th District and 25th District). Richard Varn
Richard J. Varn (born 31 May 1958) is an American former politician. Richard Varn was born in Des Moines, Iowa, to parents Leonard and Carolyn on 31 May 1958. After graduating from Solon High School (Iowa), Solon High School in 1976, Varn found work with Colonial Bakery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Cedar Rapids. While employed at the bakery, he enrolled at the University of Iowa, where he completed his undergraduate degree in 1981. Randy Feenstra
Randall Lee Feenstra (born January 14, 1969) is an American politician and businessman serving as the U.S. representative for Iowa's 4th congressional district. The district covers the state's western border and its northwestern quadrant, including Sioux City, Ames, Council Bluffs, and Marshalltown. Feenstra is retiring in 2026 to run for Governor of Iowa. The Iowa Senate is the upper house of the Iowa General Assembly. There are 50 seats in the Iowa Senate, representing 50 single-member districts across the Iowa, state of Iowa with populations of approximately 60,927 per constituency, .
