International Harvester Travelall
The International Travelall is a model line of vehicles that were manufactured by International Harvester from 1953 to 1975. A station wagon derived from a truck chassis, the Travelall was a forerunner of modern people carriers and full-size sport utility vehicles. Competing against the Chevrolet Suburban for its entire production, the model line was the first vehicle in the segment to offer four passenger doors. As International did not produce passenger cars, the Travelall wagon sourced its chassis from the International pickup truck line. Following the 1961 introduction of the Scout (a precursor to off-road oriented SUVs), the Travelall continued to follow the development of the pickup truck line, competing against the slightly larger Suburban and the smaller Jeep Wagoneer. International Harvester
The International Harvester Company (often abbreviated IH or International) was an American manufacturer of agricultural and construction equipment, automobiles, commercial trucks, lawn and garden products, household equipment, and more. It was formed from the 1902 merger of McCormick reaper, McCormick Harvesting Machine Company and Deering Harvester Company and three smaller manufacturers: Milwaukee; Plano; and Warder, Bushnell, and Glessner (manufacturers of the Champion brand). Its brands included McCormick, Deering, and later McCormick-Deering, as well as International. Along with the Farmall and Cub Cadet tractors, International was also known for the International Scout, Scout and Travelall vehicle nameplates. International C Series
The International C series and its succeeding models is a series of pickup trucks that were built by International Harvester from 1961 to 1968. They succeeded the earlier B-series range. History In 1961, the C-series trucks appeared as well as the four-door (crew-cab) Travelette. At first this would seem to have been another facelift, featuring a modernized front end, but it also meant a whole new chassis with all new independent front torsion bar suspension. The new chassis and suspension allowed for the cab to be mounted four inches lower, meaning an even bigger transmission tunnel hump but also a more car-like ride. In October 1973, the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) announced that it was implementing a total oil embargo against countries that had supported Israel at any point during the 1973 Yom Kippur War, which began after Egypt and Syria launched a large-scale surprise attack in an ultimately unsuccessful attempt to recover the territories that they had lost to Israel during the 1967 Six-Day War. In an effort that was led by Faisal of Saudi Arabia, the initial countries that OAPEC targeted were Canada, Japan, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States. This list was later expanded to include Estado Novo (Portugal), Portugal, Rhodesia, and South Africa. Chevrolet Avalanche
The Chevrolet Avalanche is a four-door, five- or six-passenger pickup truck that was manufactured by General Motors. The Avalanche was a hybrid between the Chevrolet Suburban SUV and the Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, sharing the chassis with the Suburban. Unlike a typical pickup truck where the bed is mounted separately from the cab on the frame, the bed of the Avalanche was integrated with the cab body. It also featured a "midgate" behind the second row of seats that could be folded down, with the seats, to create a longer bed area. The Avalanche was produced across two generations starting in 2001 and ending in 2013. Breaking with a long-standing tradition, the Avalanche was not available as a GMC, but only as a Chevrolet. International Light Line Pickup
The International Light Line pickups (also called the International D-Series (1000–1500)) replaced the C series as International's Light Line range of pickup trucks in early 1969, for a shortened model year. The name started out as a simple continuation of the previous A-, B-, and C-series trucks. It was largely a rebodied version of its predecessors, with a square-rigged look very similar to the period Scout utility vehicle. The Travelall underwent parallel changes to the Light Line trucks. The light line of trucks was marked by a larger range of transmission and wheelbase options than any of its competitors, and in general the lineup aimed to maximize adaptability. AMC Straight-6 Engine
The AMC straight-6 engine is a family of straight-six engines produced by American Motors Corporation (AMC) and used in passenger cars and Jeep vehicles from 1964 through 2006. Production continued after Chrysler acquired AMC in 1987. American Motors' first inline-six engine was a legacy model initially designed by Nash Motors; it was discontinued in 1965. A completely new design was introduced by AMC in 1964. The engine evolved in several displacements and underwent upgrades.
