M-137 was a Michigan Highway System, state trunkline highway in the US state of Michigan that served as a spur route to the Interlochen Center for the Arts and Interlochen State Park. It started south of the park and ran north between two lakes in the area and through the community of Interlochen, Michigan, Interlochen to U.S. Route 31 in Michigan, US Highway 31 (US 31) in Grand Traverse County, Michigan, Grand Traverse County. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is a constitutional government principal department of the US state of Michigan. The primary purpose of MDOT is to maintain the Michigan State Trunkline Highway System which includes all Interstate, US and state highways in Michigan with the exception of the Mackinac Bridge. Other responsibilities that fall under MDOT's mandate include airports, shipping and rail in Michigan. The predecessor to today's MDOT was the Michigan State Highway Department (MSHD) that was formed on July 1, 1905 after a constitutional amendment was approved that year. The first activities of the department were to distribute rewards payments to local units of government for road construction and maintenance. WIAB (88.5 FM) is a radio station in Mackinaw City, Michigan. The station is owned by Interlochen Center for the Arts, and is an affiliate of the Interlochen Public Radio's "Classical IPR" network, consisting of classical music. History The original call sign for 88.5 FM's construction permit was WAAQ, but the station was never on the air with those calls. It signed on as WDQV, "88-Dot-5 Dove FM," airing a satellite-fed contemporary Christian music format from Salem Communications ("Today's Christian Music"). Interlochen Public Radio (IPR), established in 1963, is the National Public Radio member network for Northern Michigan. It broadcasts classical music and news on five stations in the northwestern Lower Peninsula. It is operated by the Interlochen Center for the Arts, with studios on the center's campus in Interlochen, Michigan; just outside Traverse City.
