Insu, The Queen Mother
''Insu, the Queen Mother'' () is a 2011 South Korean historical television series, starring Chae Shi-ra, Hahm Eun-jung, Kim Young-ho, Kim Mi-sook, Baek Sung-hyun and Jeon Hye-bin. Focusing on the fierce power struggle among three women in the royal court of the Joseon Dynasty, it aired from December 3, 2011 to June 24, 2012 on Saturdays and Sundays at 20:55 ( KST) for 60 episodes. It was one of the inaugural dramas on newly launched cable channel jTBC. Chae Shi-ra reprised the role of Queen Insu; she previously played the same character in the 1998–2000 period drama ''The King and the Queen'', also written by Jung Ha-yeon. She said she joined the series because she wanted to explore the character further, "This drama series focuses more on the ambitious side of Queen Insu, who dreams of becoming the absolute ruler of the Joseon Dynasty, and I liked the part." Sejo (; 7 November 1417 – 23 September 1468), personal name Yi Yu (), sometimes known as Grand Prince Suyang (), was the seventh monarch of the Joseon, Joseon dynasty of Korea. He was the second son of Sejong the Great and the uncle of Danjong of Joseon, King Danjong, against whom he led a ''coup d'état'' in 1453. After seizing power he killed rivals, including his brother, Grand Prince Anpyeong. Han Hwak
Han Hwak (; 1400 1456), nicknamed Ganyijae (), was a politician and a diplomat during the Joseon period of Korea. He served as Left State Councillor. Han Hwak is mostly known by his second daughter, the Queen Insu. She married the son of Prince Suyang (who was a son of King Sejong). Some years later, Suyang became King Sejo, the seventh King of the Joseon Dynasty, and his son became Crown Prince Uigyeong. Kim Chongsŏ
Kim Chongsŏ (; 1383 – 10 November 1453) was a prominent military official and politician of the early Joseon dynasty. His ancestral home was Suncheon. He was also known under the names Kukkyŏng and Chŏlchae, and his posthumous name was Ch'ungik. In 1405, he passed the state examination and became a rank 13 official. He served King Sejong the Great as a general during the campaign against the Jurchens.
