India Women's National Volleyball Team
Indian women's national volleyball team represents India in international competitions and is managed by the Volleyball Federation of India. In July 2018, Minimol Abraham was appointed as the captain of the Indian national team for the 2018 Asian Games. The team won the gold medal at the 2019 South Asian Games as they defeated Nepal in the final. The Volleyball Federation of India (VFI) is the governing body of volleyball in India. History The Volleyball Federation of India was formed in the year 1951. Prior to the formation of the Volleyball Federation of India (VFI), the game was controlled by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and at that time the Interstate Volleyball Championship was held every two years from 1936 to 1950 for men only. The first Championship was held in the year 1936 at Lahore (now in Pakistan). In 1951, the Volleyball Federation of India was formed and its first meeting was held in Ludhiana (Punjab). FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship Qualification
The FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship is the process that a national women's volleyball team goes through to qualify for the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship finals. Qualifying tournaments are held within the five FIVB continental zones ( Africa, Asia and Oceania, North and Central America and Caribbean, South America, Europe), and are organized by their respective confederations. The FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship is an international volleyball competition contested by the senior women's national teams of the members of ' (FIVB), the sport's global governing body. The initial gap between championships was variable, but since 1970 they have been awarded every four years. The current champions are the Serbia, which won their second title at the 2022 tournament in Netherlands and Poland. The 2021 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship would have been the 21st edition of the Asian Women's Volleyball Championship, organized by Asia's governing volleyball body, the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) hosted in the Philippines.
